Can one access the thermal time switch by removing the oil filter?
Anything else to remove to help access?

Should not the radiator be drained some so that removing the switch does not make a mess?

    Any encouragement appreciated.

Not sure if you can get a wrench in there ... but it is worth trying, the oil filter is easy to remove.

And yes, you need something to quickly cover the hole, maybe one of those rubber cones you can plug the hole with.

I had a blind plug with the correct thread to screw in while testing the time switch.
