I need to replace the windshield on my 2014 F12. I went on a rally for 1200 miles in the desert and got some real large chips. I had those patched up but then after I cleaned the windshield I noticed that it had a thousand pock marks on it and it is real bad.

Dealer wants $5k plus. Anyone ever do this at a non-dealer place or is that trouble waiting to happen?

    Any other fixes out there?

    Thanks!

You should check with your insurance company I think that could be covered.

Have had two windshields replaced both on my FF. Ran about 4 - 5k thru my body shop. They do a lot of Ferrari work tho. Much faster than dealer.

I would have the replacement carried out by a windscreen replacement specialist. The dealerships are not experienced no matter what they may say. I had my 599 windscreen replaced by a specialist. They cleaned all the bonding crap around the frame from the factory. Interior was cleaned to ensure no dirt in hard to reach places for cleaning. They even let me clean and condition the dash once the screen was out. Final result is that you cannot tell the windscreen was replaced and all completed in 4 hours. Dealership had wanted me to let them do the work. They wanted the car for at least 3 days. They were also more expensive. Insurance paid so cost was not an influencing factor. For me I preferred the specialist to the dealer.

I wouldn't think a lot of dealership do glass. Likely they sub it to someone like a specialist or a body shop. Find out who they use and check them out. The only good thing about getting it done at the dealer is he's ultimately responsible if something goes wrong even if he subs it. Good luck.

    Hello,

I can’t offer any assistance on replacement of the windscreen, but I can give firsthand experience with having a clear film protection on the windscreen.

They work a treat to keep small impacts like grit, sand etc from making those pesky pock marks in the glass. I’ve also been hit twice on the windscreen by rocks that hit with *loud* pops on the glass. The film helps, but if you get a big enough rock pop, it will probably still cause a chip/crack.

Once you get the glass replacement, I would highly recommend getting a clear protective film applied to give you some extra protection to that front glass.

    Cheers!

I had a rock hit and crack my 488 windshield. No glass replacement company would touch the car. I had to take it to the Ferrari dealer and they took care of it and replaced the windshield. It took a little more than 2 weeks. Not exactly fast service but they don’t care

5k price from a dealer is the best price i've seen. I'm in the Seattle area and a Fchat member here was quoted nearly 10k to replace one for a F430 spider.

Do you have a source for the part? I would honestly rather have a windshield-specialized place, even like a Safelite if they are willing. They came out and looked at a couple chips in mine, determined that they had already been repaired, but I do know that they have done Ferrari windshields in the past. I don't imagine the process is much different and that it their specialty.

The dealer found it. I probably over paid but I couldn't find it else where.
