It's a good question. And, Classiche, since its inception, has had to tangle with it a bit. Specifically, the breadvan was NOT eligible for the original Classiche certification, because it's not the original body. Classiche would, however, tear the existing body off and build you a new body to original specs. For a BIG price, of course.

They also had to deal with it when Michelotto-built cars requested cert (333SPs, F40LMs, 360 NGTs, etc.). I've got a funny story about the time I tried to buy a 360 NGT, and was told it was a Challenge car, and, for a price, Classiche would take it back to a Challenge car for me.

Anyway, Classiche created the "Of Significant Interest" category. If the car isn't as it rolled out of the gates, if it raced in-period, it can get this "half-assed" paper. However, if it didn't race, I believe you may be SOL. Classiche will consider the car on a case-by-case basis, but given how random the results have been, I wouldn't hold my breath that it's going to be anything to hang a hat on when buying. Do your homework still applies.

Oh, and I can't wait for the first lawsuit to fly against SpA when a buyer, who based their purchase on Classiche papers, finds out their car isn't legit for some reason or another. Should be interesting!

There is one thing to be said about this 250 GT Spyder replica listed by Ron Russer--no Ferrari's were harmed in its creation. Plus, it looks like a really nice replica, unlike the Z based GTO's, Fiero based Testarossa's, etc. Interestingly enough, I just saw a Edicion Limitada 1:18 Scale, Die-Cast model of the 250 California Spyder, from the "Ferrari Stars Collection, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, 250 California SWB", Officially licensed by Ferrari. Ironically, as Ferrari is aware, most of the scenes from the movie were filmed using the replica.
