I've decided to no longer purchase any watches from Watch Eden. The watches look FANTASTIC, but they break quickly. The digital screen on my Scuderia watch broke after about a week, my Breitling Tourbillon had the minute hand fall off of it after about a month and a half, and the actions never worked properly. Overall, not the best of luck for me!
+1 i bought a U-boat... to make sure i like wearing a watch that big, before buying the real thing!! needless to say, the watch from watcheden LOOKED great!! but broke within 2 weeks!! Band was cheaper than cheap!! Wasnt too upset...what do you expect for a hundred bucks!! anyways my questions was answered!! I didnt have any problem with the size.... so now im lookin for the real thing!!
I have to say, the bands on both of my watches have been fantastic. The Breitling knock off looks and feels exactly like the real thing. I have no comparison for the Ferrari watch, but it's a rubber band and it also feels great and hasn't worn down or lost it's color at all.
I'm okay with people buying replica watches, if that's what they want to do. My only problem is that the fakes are getting too similar to the real thing. The downside is when you're trying to buy the real thing on the used watch market, it is too easy to be fooled by someone selling one of the replicas. For example, I want to buy a real Panerai watch but I understand there are quite a few fakes out there. I wish the fakes were easier to spot.
I've been wearing the brown Folex above every day since Christmas. I've worn it to work, around the house, sleeping ect.. with no issues what so ever and it keeps perfect time. I've probably worn it 75% of every hour since I got it.
Ron, The Panerai that I've got for sale is 1000% authentic, complete and excellent. In addition, it's great that you are close enough to me that you can inspect the watch personally and even have it inspected at a Panerai authorized dealer (in Tysons I believe). It's time to step up for the Pam 88. Ron
Interesting to hear everyone's ideas about this topic. (except the rude ones ;-) I bought a fake Rolex as a kid. I was 23ish (but looked younger) and making mountains of money and could have afforded the real thing easily. My wife and I noticed that we'd go into a fine restaurant or art gallery and be basically ignored. We were young stupid kids who blew through gobs of money but had trouble getting people to take us seriously as buyers. My wife wore simple jewelry and I wore mostly what today would be called work casual clothes. Once on a trip to San Fran, we tried to buy a piece of art from a gallery and could not get the moron to sell it to us. (too busy on the phone and did not even make eye contact) I considered buying a Rolex as what I called a "credibility watch." As sort of an experiment I bought a fake Rolex and an equally fake big diamond encrusted wedding band. A few months later we were in SF on another vacation and walked into the same gallery. The same guy who couldn't be troubled to take my money was suddenly drooling all over me. My wife and I grinned a knowing grin and walked out... with the same piece of art we wanted months before exactly where it had been when we entered the first time. Many people would have rushed right out and bought a real Rolex because the experiment "worked." My life lesson was that (and this will be sure to piss a few people here off) is that people who are impressed by what is on your arm are idiots and I don't live my life seeking their approval. (YMMV) Ironically if I ever won the lotto I'd probably buy a few knock-offs... just to get the chuckle of shallow people being impressed by fakery. BTW this post is not meant to be a hand-grenade... just one guy's option. You're welcome to call me foolish. I don't live my life seeking your approval either. ;-)
Expensive watches are like a lot of things in life. You don't buy them because: - they keep better time than inexpensive watches. - they will impress other people. - they will go up in value over the years (as an "investment") - they'll never break or get stolen. Like owning a Jaguar E-type, a Norton motorcycle, or a P-51 Mustang plane, people buy an expensive watch because: - it is a thing of beauty, - it functions mechanically with precision, - and it makes them happy when they see it. Just my opinion. BTW, an "expensive watch" is a relative thing, for some it might be $300, for others more than $200,000. I'm closer to the lower part of that range than I am to the upper.
What a shame, sorry to hear. I guess I have been lucky, mine are still ticking along nicely. I am REALLY favouring the Pam. I think I will buy a real one when this one breaks. The RM 011 is really cool and by far my fav, but I know I cant afford the real one. The Tag is also very nice and probably the best 'replica' of them all. The quality on that one is great. So far its been a fun experience.
I scratched the crap out of mine (fell and landed on it ), but other then that it still works great. Bought a porsche design fake in November and worn it about every day since. I wont buy any more fakes because at the time i couldnt find any "cheap" real watchs i actually liked. Since theni have found a few so i dont have a "need" to get a fake. The exceptions might be a rotary "navitimer" and a parnis IWC homage
I agree 100 and 1 percent. Which is why I don't own any replicas. (or the real ones) If you'll pardon the analogy swerve, a good friend of mine loves old Navy vessels. To me they are big hunks of rust. I love old warbirds and he could care less about them. Even though I love "mechanical art" I've just never been bit by the watch bug. I often call the F430 art. If I felt the same way about a watch I'd surely own it... but they leave me flat for some reason. I guess if I really loved the styling and either didn't want to spend the money or (more likely in my case) didn't want to risk the money (having it lost or broken) I'd buy a replica... but I REALLY don't get the point of being a poser.
I have this one a few months and it is a fake... wrist art....keeps excellent time too! beev Image Unavailable, Please Login

So, is ordering one of these watches illegal? I've already purchased one from Watcheden, and would like a few more, but not if I'm going to have a nightmare with customs over it.
I tried my luck on a replica from www.timetraditions.net a few months ago...paid them, no watch. Called their "customer service line," answering machine that was full. Emailed for several months, no response. Checked their site only to find that an injunction was slapped on them from Chanel and the site was blank. Filed a dispute with my credit card company...and what do you know, the seller responds! Tells me they've changed their site, now go to www.thewatchprofessionals.com blah blah blah and what can they do for me to reverse my dispute. NOT A F*CKING THING! haha
if i ever wore a fake watch i think everytime i looked down. at my wrist a little piece of me would die. a fine watch is about history, fine craftsmanship, etc...it has nothing to do with net worth. i know wealthy people who only want to know the time and a cheap casio is fine, and wealthy people who appreciate the art of fine watches. i don't understand someone who only wants to spend $100, but look like $10,000.
Exactly. I'd rather wear a real plastic G-shock than a fake Gold Patek. The thing is one can find quality vintage REAL watchs if you look around. There is a fine vintage Girard Perregaux on Watchrecon right now for <$300. Total refined class that any enthusiast would be proud to wear.
