http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/18102007/3/mclaren-mercedes-drop-formula-world-champion-alonso-report.html Coming as a shock to no one here I'm sure. At least all the red seats are already taken
+1...I didnt wanted him at Ferrari either... Flavio is smiling as we type...he should have never left Renault.
The man has a name: Fernando Alonso That "joke" has run its course I think. Schummel-Schumi was fun for only so long, then it got trite.
Good thing he's not an American. You can only imagine the stupid nicknames he'd have: A-lo, Fo-So, Fonzie.
Thats if one thinks of Alonshole as a man. I think of him more like a whinning baby that just cant stop. He has now appointed his spy to keep an eye Lewis all weekend. This guy is a real charm. And you still say you want to see him in RED. How long is it going to take you to just admit that you were wrong and that this guy would do nothing but plant a cancerous seed in Ferrari? Just what does he have to do for you to drop him? Alonso appoints own Hamilton spy Zoom Fabrizio Borra is no stranger to McLaren Mercedes Not content to rely on the special FIA-appointed 'equality steward', Fernando Alonso has reportedly assigned his own garage observer for the 2007 championship finale. Germany's Bild newspaper reports that Fabrizio Borra, who is Alonso's long time physiotherapist, has been asked by the Spanish 26-year-old to keep an eye on his McLaren team-mate Lewis Hamilton throughout the final grand prix of 2007 at Interlagos. Spanish motorsport president Carlos Gracia asked FIA President Max Mosley for an official to be stationed in the team's garage for his weekend following speculation of inequality and internal sabotage against Alonso's title chances. Bild claims that Italian Borra, who earlier this year was implicated in the qualifying pitstop delay in Hungary, will observe Hamilton and monitor things including his setup decisions and fuel and tyre strategies. It's reported here aswell: To be honest I'm a bit surprised that Renault are so keen to have him back as he complained a lot about his treatment there accusing the team of not being behind him or wanting him to win. Alonso at Ferrari is still not impossible. Although they have re-signed Massa till 2010 there is nothing in the press-release that guarantees him a race seat. He could be test driver or loaned out to another team if Ferrari decide to give Alonso a race-seat.
The team that is prepared to have FA The centre of there affection and treat him like a king will do alright with him he is a brillant driver and a great asset to a team , until it goes wrong then it's someone else's fault.
well, right now he is the best all around driver, and a 2x WDC.......why wouldn't you want that guy driving for you??? forget what he does off-track. what happens on the track is what really counts!
it's a pity he complains and whines too much. had he been like Kimster, i'd love to see what he can do in a Scarlet car.
The idea is still to get Alonso into the Ferrari for 2009. Renault is very aware of that and therefore only offer a 3 year contract to Alonso. But then again he is in a 3 year contract with McLaren right now. Doesn't mean squad. Here's hoping to Alonso in the Ferrari in 2009. Not holding my breath, but it is a realistic possibility. Not just my wishful thinking btw.
Although on here at least this seems an unpopular motion. Why do you want this so much? ..apart from wanting a fast 2x maybe 3x WDC driver in a red car. Personally I don't feel strongly that Ferrari need him, but it wouldn't bother me if they did hire him. I have more of a concern not of his driving skill but a return to #1 driver at Ferrari and if he didn't get it the same problem Mclaren have had. If Massa is staying this may not be an issue maybe Ferrari thinking long term.
Good question. Ferrari might not need him if Kimi continues to drive the way he did in the 2nd half of this year. And yes, there is his constant whining etc which can destabilize the team. A few reasons: - I just happen to like him. I would have liked to see Montoya and Villeneuve at Ferrari as well. I know I'm in the minority with that, so be it. Basically I like drivers who speak their minds. A rare sight in today's PC and corporate world. They might be wrong, but at least they stand for something. - I think he is the most complete driver. - If you can't beat him, make him part of your team. - It would help me resolve my inner conflict in cheering: I can't cheer for Alonso because he sits in a McLaren and beats our boys, but I would like to. While this is an unpopular opinion, something tells me that Ferrari hasn't given up on him. Maybe I'm just dreaming. We'll see.
Fair enough every man has his price and patience is a virgin.. I have an inner conflict it's an LH one ..
Alonso at Ferrari would create the same conflict that is Alonso vs Hamilton. Just like Prost vs Senna. That's why Ferrari has kept Massa. A cog in the racing machine that is Kimi!
Are you implying that the extension of Massa's contract actually is an indicator of Alonso coming to the Scuderia once they dump Kimi? Interesting thought.
FA, JM and JV are all cut from the same cloth. from a team point of view that cloth is soaked in kerosene. These three men would do a disservice to Ferrari and co. in my opinion. Stats are great, wins are great but when there's conflict swirling about, everyday, every race weekend etc. Winning may lose its appeal and the members of the team could just want their good work environment back. The top few things that ALWAYS rank at the top of the list for happy workers is happiness in the work place, a chance to learn and improve skills, a chance to further a career and to be respected for what they do in house by co-workers and management. "If you can't beat him, make him part of your team." - Somewhat. It worked wonders with MS but with Alonso I think we can all agree it wouldn't be nearly as nice, pretty, comfortable, happy, successful, joyful etc. A good driver yes, a team member, almost no. Cheer for your favorite drivers and teams.
Personally when I found out he threatened his own team, regardless of Lewis's actions, he went downhill for me. I have been rooting for Kimi from the start of the season, and would have loved to see Alonso at Ferrari until the way he has behaved this season.
Not to start the whole Stepneygate anew, but I think it is the team manager who sets the tone and defines what is ethical behavior and what not. Alonso and de la Rosa operated within the boundaries McLaren defined. The blackmail attempt by Alonso was a Machiavellian move, but IMHO he was fighting fire with fire. RD lives by the sword, now he got whacked by the sword.
Well RD brought it on to himself for not sanctioning Hamilton in Hungary when Alonso was supposed to do is fuel burnoff. Hamilton was given first rights at Silverstone and than turned the tables on Alonso in Hungary, that is why Alonso held him in his pit bay and why the FIA should never have gotten involved, it was intrateam issue. As far as the whole Stepneygate goes, I still think that Ferrari bares some responsiblity (10%) for the fact that Stepney was so unhappy that he could have done this. McLaren is of course the Team to blame, no question in my mind, they should have stepped up as soon as they knew Coughlan had the paper instead of waiting as they did, this definately implies they were in the wrong. However, the punishment handed out IMHO is a joke considering there was no punishment to Toyota when they did the samething, nor the fact that if you take out the Constructors you should have taken out the Drivers as well. This whole thing sucks, I used to root for both Kimi and Alonso, fortunately now I root only for Kimi. By the way, Massa is still a second rate driver, and got lucky to have ever gotten the Ferrari drive in the first place. Now that Kimi is adjusted to the team, we will see how many races Massa wins in the future.
Were it not for the '2nd rate' driver's handouts, Kimi's DC chances would be ultra finished and kaputt - that's luck (not as lucky as LH stealing some points from Alonso in .hu but still ...) But, I agree, it's great that Kimi has adjusted to the 'car' since Monza.
