Would you go for...

  1. A close to 100% accurate glass reproduction?

  2. A glass reproduction without thermic wiring nor labels?

  3. A plexi glass repro at a cheap price, without thermic wiring nor labels?

Unfortunately I'm out. I have been in touch with a major car glass manufacturer in the UK, they have the original templates and can remake these as 1 offs (no need for minimum batch orders) and significantly cheaper.

Turn around time is approximately 8weeks.

A clear glass replacement with heating element including 20% VAT & delivered in the UK is less than £1200.

A non heated glass replacement including 20% VAT & delivered in the UK is less than £1000.

I have almost reached the minimum number required for the production of a heater rear wind screen. Anyone else?

I'm with the majority - as close as possible to 100% original. Option 1.

Thanks for taking this on! This is what the vintage car world needs - dedicated people who find a way to reproduce unavailable parts so our cars can happily keep driving.

    So, here's the score:

5 WITH and 5 WITHOUT heating will be made. They will be exact replicas of the original. The only difference is that the Ferrari logo will not be on the screen.

They will be available in September.

Price for a unit with heating : 1250 euro ex taxes
Price for a unit without heating: 750 euro ex taxes.

If you need one, I require a deposit of 30%

    Kick ass !

My brand new rear window is finally ready for fitting (including heating element), which was made by a large manufacturer here in the UK.

Will be fitted next week, also I'm lucky enough to have a brand new Ferrari rear screen rubber if needed too. Will post pictures once done.

I was looking at my rear window and there is a little clouding in one area. I noticed that the seal was slightly deformed in that area. My guess is that moisture gets under the seal and into the window. I'm not at all sure about this, but I am going to cover this area with something when i wash the car, so keep moisture away fro that area.

The issue is that the wolfram heating foil of the original windows runs until the edges of the glass. This causes moisture to enter the glass with the known result. There isn't much you can do against that, you could take out the window and put better insulation tape over the edges.

I received the prototype today after a delay of some weeks, caused by the complexity of the shape. Several molds were necessary to arrive at a final one, of which 1 prototype was made. I will try to fit it in my golden Mondial in the coming week and write down the final changes if any to start production. Really looking forward to this! If I'm not mistaken, this is the only remanufactured window on the planet so far !

Ummmm... Unfortunately not quite true. I have a remanufactured rear window being fitted to my Mondial. They already have the moulds and templates, a major international car and house window glass manufacturer.... Being fitted by an Indy Ferrari specialist in the UK, who unfortunately broke the first remanufactured window whilst fitting (they had to bend the window slightly to fit and it snapped in half)!. So another replacement has been made and being fitted shortly.

Oops, that's the big problem with fitting one that does not for 100% has the exact bends. I will personally fit in the prototype I just received early next week and give some feedback (if needed) to the producers after my first attempt. Once it fits, all 10 units will be manufactured.

That's good because at the same time, I'm restoring a black Mondial T with a broken rear window, I definitely already need one for myself.

I'll send some pics later today of the prototype.

I got a call this afternoon - my glass will be fitted mid next week, so fingers crossed. The problem they said is that each car is very slightly different and the glass has very little tolerance - so snapped. They are going to get a specialist glass fitter to install, just incase - although they have replaced a few over the years.

    Dear people:

IT IS A SUCCESS !!! I managed to put the rear window (prototype) into its place in even less than half an hour! Thanks to Guido for assisting me, to our great surprise it fits like a glove!

We first taped the window to spread the tension over the entire window while fitting. Then, we put the rubber around it and pushed it into its place from the interior outwards. We struggled a bit with the rubber, but the rest went VERY smoothly !

That means I can now start with the production of the first batch!
