I am off on a road trip cross country mid-July and one of my planned stops is Memphis.

Would anyone be able to recommend a hotel that would provide a fairly safe haven for my 328? I am used to being able to park close to the front entrance of most higher rated hotels (the security or valet will usually watch for me)... I am hoping for a similar type situation as I pass through Little Rock for the night.

Any help that could be provided is greatly appreciated!

Try the Peabody. I'd bet they'd park it right out front.

Is a car with about the same value as botton of the line Lexus or top of the line Nissan. Good grief, just pay your insurance premium and park the thing in a convenient location!

Maybe so in your hometown. But in our state, a Ferrari anywhere is a rare creature. The value becomes irrelevant- it attracts good and bad attention. What sits unnoticed in a La Jolla strip mall's parking lot is pratically a one-car parade here. I'd say its many, many, many more times likely to be vandalized than any Lexus.

The Peabody is excellent, but the most expensive hotel in Memphis. As an alternative, try the Wyndham, which has secure parking, locked up with a guard overnight. I stayed there the last time I was in Memphis with my 308.

I completely agree with you. And I can tell you that's also true in Memphis. Heck, we raised over $20,000 from people coming to our Father's Day show who were willing to pay just to see 'em! And though the Enzo and F50 drew a lot of attention, the 308's and 328's were just as popular.

Here's a good example that makes your point that it's not just the "dollar value" of the car. I took my wife to the Opryland Hotel in Nashville for lunch on her birthday, and we were in the 308. I drove up to valet parking, behind a brand new Corvette convertible and a brand new high end Mercedes. When they had been taken care of and driven off it was my turn, the valet said, "How about we leave it over there right in front of the hotel? And you can pull it up yourself if you don't mind; I'd rather not touch it!" It didn't matter that the Mercedes they just drove off was probably at least double the dollar value of my "lowly" Ferrari 308QV.

Rule of thumb for memphis---hotels on the EAST side (outside perimeter) are OK---try Hampton Suites off poplar ave OUTSIDE PERIMETER.......

In TN Ferraris are rare and I will tell you that everyone where I live thinks they are worth over $100K. I can park my 308 for a few minutes and then come out to 5-10 people walking around it looking.
Maybe it is just me but I never see a Lexus with 5 people around it unless they are the passengers.

A tremendous Thanks! for the advice! Am looking into both the Wyndham and Peabody...

She may not be worth more than a Lexus to some, but to me... she is my girl and the thought of having someone vandalize her is more than a bit saddening. Besides, not all of us own our own company!

Well, relative to the car garnering attention whether it we desired or unwanted I can tell you this. My '77 308GTB may have been only a $30 somthing $K car or so, but to the average Joe it was: brand new, cost $200,000 and was fully capable of going over 200mph. That car literally drew crowds just about everywhere I went. I have had lots of really neat cars including P-cars, XK and XKE Jags, Healeys, Alfas, Lotus, Triumphs... but NOTHING drew attention like the 308. My Daytona doesnt even come close. To "car people" the Daytona is amazing but to the average Joe they barely notice. The 308 though.... people go nuts.

Of coarse Frank knows this.... You guys did see the ;) right?

I guess you can thank Thomas Magnum (and Robin Masters) for that! I get some of the same action with my 328.

WAY EAST, FAR outside I-240. I wouldn't leave a Ferrari out in a parking lot in the I-240/Poplar area either.

I would definitely second the Peabody - as long as it is parked near the door. In their regular garage, you share space with the people parking for Beale Street and Peabody Place (bunch of restaurants and bars...). Can't say about the Wyndham. French Quarter Inn near Overton Square is somewhat secluded - might be worth a call.

Whatever you do, don't stay ANYWHERE near the airport or the malls.

My five-year-old Land Rover Discover was vandalized in downtown Memphis.... Not the best place for exotics really.
