FYI, I am a moderator at M5board.com. One thing we added to the thread posts is a "Like" button. We thought this was a nice feature to add to let OP know that members either like what they see, like the photos posted, or agree with the posted comments.

All members liked it and us moderators liked it too as it doesn't clog up the threads with "quotes" and repeat statements or same photos posted again.

Or perhaps also add "Thanks" button to express appreciation to the posted comments.

Sorry I dont know how to contact moderators or administrators so I just posted it here.

Moderators / Administrators = kindly consider my request.

    Thanks.

    Dan

    Yes, seriously.

    It is only a suggestion.

Thanks for providing your respectful opinion.

That's a very myopic response to the original poster's reasonable suggestion, which was based on actual experience.

Other social networking sites have that feature, why not here?

    How old are you?

I'm a member on M5board and have used this function on this board as well as other car forums.
What's wrong with supporting another's statement with a simple "like?"

Thanks to everyone that has chimed in and provided their inputs and opinion.

I only ask a few things which is our golden rule in the M5board. Please treat others how you would like to be treated yourself. No personal attacks. Stay on topic. And please remain respectful.

I am sure last thing the moderators want to do here is play parents and continually remind members to behave themselves.

I joined this board to learn as much as I can about Ferraris as I plan on buying a 360 Spider sometime this year. Its my next dream car and I am putting steps in place to make it a reality soon.

    This is an excellent board.
Thanks to the Administrators and moderators for running a great board.
Very similar to our M5board/M6board. Lots of kind, respectful and very helpful members.

And the usual, there are some that chimes in once in a while, doesn't really contribute anything good to the discussion, puts down people, and seem to think they are better / superior than others......

As I mentioned, my golden rule: Treat others how you would like to be treated yourself.

Dan, after a very mature post, clearly no one is listening to you, and I do apologize that your objective idea has been slighted by subjective base opinions.
I do support your idea, but people seem quite emotional about comparing it to fb even though Fchat is a forum furthest from fb.

I agree with you that Fchat serves a wealth of information offered by many intelligent people. Then there are those who like to throw in emotional derogatory comments.
    But that's an Internet forum.

22 posts in 8 years and you want to change how things are done at the most popular Ferrari board in the world?

A little advice -- it wouldn't take very much research to figure out who actually runs this place, and to drop him an email laying out your case. It may be a better approach than simply denigrating everyone who disagrees with you.

As for me, I find those "like" and "thank" features annoying when trying to read the boards, especially on a device with a small screen. Clean is good when you have data limits and limited real estate.

FWIW - the referenced comment wasn't "emotional derogatory" - it was in an English Dialect known as "Aussie".

We had the *+/-/meh* feature years ago. Administrator found it's scientific usage to be minimal in comparison to :clutter: and preferred dialogue over *+/-/meh*.

It also prevents even more screwball Lobbying/Dupe efforts than usual.

    Geezzzzzzzzzz,

Once more - it was a suggestion.

I am not trying to change anything here. A simple "I dont think its a good idea" would suffice.

22 post for me in 8 years of membership? = Yes.

I joined 8 years ago so I can read posts here, learn as much as I can about F cars in hoping to own one day. I learned a lot through years of reading posts here so thank you for all the informative posts.

I never put down anyone for making a comment or suggestion about something as we each are entitled to our own opinion. But I always try to remain respectful of others.

I have finally started entering threads lately and replying to posts as I am finally in a position to own a Ferarri sometime this year and wanted to hear members inputs and opinions.

Sad that some here feels they are superior than others and only their own ideas matters.

    Thanks for your advice.

I will send a PM to the moderators requesting to close this thread.

I support you OP (and what's up with the immature replies!? As a user, you're an FerrariChat ambassador, act like it). The "like button" was implemented on another local BMW forum I use and it was a great success. Got rid of all the +1, "WOW!", "Nice!" and "LOL!" posts that sometimes clog up picture threads (and there are a ton of picture threads on this forum!).

I don't get the Facebook connection. The original "like button" idea may (or not) have originated from Facebook but it's not like the forum will become a social media platform by adding something like that. I didn't see any protests against this feature:

Thanks for chiming, thanks for your support and sharing your thoughts on the matter.

I have sent a PM to Mr. Rob Lay requesting to delete or close my thread as it is not going anywhere productive.

Wax, Thank you for your input. I had not realized that the feature had been attempted before and did not succeed - that is fine, and we can leave it at that.

My references were to the 3 comments quoted above.
The way I viewed it is here is a "new guy" Dan, who is an obvious car enthusiast and is currently looking to buy a 360 and enter the Ferrari community. Fchat is a great ambassadorship to the community.
Dan makes a polite suggestion for the forum and he gets lambasted by some pretty negative comments:

    "dumbing down...."
referencing his suggestion as "pathetic ....like FB....cr@p"
lack of posts and he is considered to trying to "change how things are done at the most popular Ferrari board in the world?"

All I'm saying is that it's not a very warm welcome to a future Ferrari enthusiast who made one simple suggestion. Perhaps brevity in their words and a concise "No" would have sufficed.

The way I view it, "new guy" Dan comes in swinging his badge as a moderator at another board, wants this place to act like his other board, and when members say No -- and suggest that he look at the multi-hundred post thread that already discusses the feature -- he starts talking *again* about the Golden Rule on his other board and how he's being treated unfairly.

We have a saying here in Texas: "We don't care how you did it up north." This sure feels like a carpetbagger coming down to tell the savages how it should be done.

I guess we view his suggestion differently. I looked at it as merely a suggestion.
Nothing Dan said was ever negative or derogatory in any way.
However, others denigrated him pretty harshly in my opinion.

I'm just a little disheartened that people reply so negatively to a neutral suggestion. Especially when you deem Fchat to be the most popular Ferrari board in the world. Can't we act as ambassadors with a bit more positive replies?
    Cant people play nice?

Your extrapolation of a carpet bagger...to tell the savages seems a bit far fetched to me.
