Once while visiting the factory in Maranello, I noted to a Ferrari senior VP that when people saw that my 550 was Blue TdF, they were surprised that it was not red. The VP put his arm around my shoulder and said, " Senior Mike, every Ferrari is red, not matter what color it is."

Sitting in my garage, wow, can’t think of a better color than red for my 430. Driving it, it’s a different story, gets too much attention, maybe silver would be better

I've heard the attention attached red a few times now (too much, negative). Can you expand on that a bit on what exactly you mean?

Every teeny bopper with a coffee can muffler has to show off when in the vicinity of our red 430, which really gets annoying. But our next car will be red as well per the wife.

It’s something about a red Ferrari that triggers people. Worst reaction I have had is someone spit out their window at me at a stop sign.

My bright yellow air cooled Porsche gets nothing but smiles and thumbs ups. My Grigio 575 goes mostly unnoticed, but people who do recognize it appreciate it.

    Dear Dinosaurs,

Shockingly I must admit that 64 years ago I repainted my new acquisition "resale red" because "all Ferraris were red"! When I bought it, the dark blue color was the fourth repaint job. During the 2000 to 2008 conservation/restoration project there were places where we could see the various paint layers including the original French Racing Blue (or Bugatti blue) due to the original French owner's request. The three colors are reflected in the following pictures.

There is no doubt in my mind that the original light blue is perfect on this car.

    Best regards,

    Robert

Omg Robert, that light blue is absolutely stunning!

The title of the thread says "Resale Red"

That alone suggests part of the decision making process is placing a high value on resale and $.

No right or wrong here, but I buy and love my cars based on what color I think looks best on those curves...

I think a lot of Ferraris look good in red...but I'm not a red-car guy.

Only reason I'd buy a red Ferrari is if it was an older car and I was buying based on condition, and didn't want to wait possibly years for an as-good-condition, not-red car to turn up. Then I could live with the red, but it'd have to be a special car.

Rosso Magma I think is the perfect shade of red to ever leave Maranello
