    Gentlemen and Ladies,

I have defected from the Porsche side and have now got a 355 1997 and I have to say I am having so much fun with the car. I had a TV Sat nav unit fitted today, unfortunately this was done at home in the UK. As you may be aware in never ever rains here so we were caught by surprise when the sky opened up without warning...

We had the dash out of the car and needed to move it into the garage. I understand that starting the engine with out the dash being connected would be the cause for the Air bag light to come on. Is it possible to reset without going to Ferrari?

I have also read in quite a few threads about people being able to read the fault codes! Is it possible to use a PC to do this and if so how would I get a copy of the required programe? and the pin out details of the plug.

Apologies that my first written participation is a quest for knowledge and I promiss to try and contribute as much as I gain from the Fchat forum.

    Regards

You will be in more trouble for having a TV fitted than asking for help as a first post :) . I would try disconnecting the battery and see if that resets the light.

I believe it takes a Reader (OBD2..On Board Daignostics Version 2) of some sort, not a PC to read the fault codes.........

Sorry I can't help more, but others will be along shortly...

Just throw a big tarp over it 'till weather improves????

Ooops! The reality is that the Sat nav / TV / CD / DVD player was installed in the car by the previous owner and was not working properly, and the Origin B2 camera / speed trap detector that I was fitting at the same time required for the dash to be removed, the leather had also pealed back and needed attention too! A complete waste of time as I will only listen to the engine sound anyway!!!

So I should try to disconnect the battery and if that fails it's a trip to the dealer with my tails between my legs, any advise on how and where to install the coffee maker and waffle warmer...

I believe if you call Mad Mike at GAS on Pimp My Ride he can help you with placement of the coffemaker and waffle warmer and a Crystal Chandelier. :)

The discussion reminds me of the Midwest 355 with all of the 007 gadgets. Smoke screen injectors, nail dispensors, flip down lisc. plates with blinding strobes behind....... Wonder where that car ended up?

    Dino355,
Is your car black and spent some time in Denver around 2000 ?

You can read fault codes with a PC and the proper interface. There was a thread not long ago, try seraching on the forum. About the air bag error you will have to do it at the Ferrari workshop, cant be done any other way. I called the local Ferrari dealer about this when I disconnected the air bag to put in a child seat in my 355. For now I have removed the indicator lamp ;-)

Unfortunately mine is the one with the AIR BAB warning light that glows in the dark...

Spose a water feature is out of the question for advise on where to fit, allways in the pooh it's just the depth that varies. LOL!

I could have lived out my years just fine without being reminded of that contraption.

It was owned by a local building contractor the last I heard (his buddy kept it so it could remain secret from his future ex-wife).

You didn't mention the secret motorized gun compartment in the console.

As if an Italian car needs more electrical gizmos.

Three more secret compartments in the interior. The air bag cover even folded down for a secret stash compartment.

Guess how fun it was to fix the F1 system on a completely "Modifyed" car like that.

I did receive an Email asking if I ever did get resolution to this problem and like an idiot I deleted it as I thought I would reply here but it was obviously sent privately, so apologies to whom ever it was I should have responded directly.

No I did not manage to solve the problem with advice given on this forum and I did not disconnect the battery as I thought other problems could manifest themselves so I call Verdi a local specialist who offered to reset the system anytime if I just popped down to see them. You can contact them on 0208 756 0066 (Hayes Middlesex UK) and I am not affilated to them in anyway.

Verdi have done work for me on my other cars and are a fantastic company who are nice people to do business with! They also made no comment about the Ice maker now installed on the roof...

Thanks for all of your help!
