For those who have seen not the Mondial is in a place of pride in the Museo Ferrari in Maranello. Did not see any other post 1989 regular production cars (Scud but let’s not argue about whether this car was “regular” ). Carbon copy of my ex Mondial. Museum worthy. It is also also proudly on the green at Pebble Beach every year now. Cool to see in the 75th anniversary and special invite last year. It’s been a regularly featured in different exhibits at the museum, and It always delights me to see it.
Indeed, the $132,000 paid for a Mondial t last month is a testament to that. damn, now my parts are going to just keep on costing more. ugh.
I should have been clearer; when I said every year, I meant last year and this year. (see below) I mean, you don't have to take my word for it. 2021 Hope Ferrari.com is official enough? Start at 1:09:55 2022 (75th Anniversary) - 75 cars in front of Casa Ferrari.
Their big celebrations are at 10 year intervals and at home. Lets see what is on the grass in Maranello at the 80th.
All good. I get not everyone is a fan of the Mondial. In fact, lots of folks hate it. So much so that they will go to a Mondial Forum to rain on the owner's parade, often with myths and falsehoods. As to why this phenomenon happens, I have some theories.
I like Mondials fine. I once told the President of FNA over lunch I thought the 3.2 Mondial Coupe was the best car they were then building. When I was at the 70th I was disappointed they did that but I was also very aware why. You are terrible at reading people. You couldn't be farther off. Should just give it up.
"I think the surprise here is the way it drives; I thought the Mondial was some laughable slow pig; this thing goes really well... feels proper sprightly to me; it's a piece of joy; I love it. I think it's cool as you know what, and it's got a gated open manual gear change, and it goes. It ticks all the boxes for Ferrari heritage too, styled by Pininfarina, built by Scallegetti. It is a unique layout; I like uniqueness. I think it's rather fun and the perfect antidote to the modern car market, which is mostly tasteless." —Chris Harris June 26, 2021 "My favorite (car)—and it’s unusual to get four seats in the Cabriolet—but I’ve got a (Ferrari) Mondial Cabriolet" —Graham Stoker June 25, 2021 FIA Deputy President In my car collection, I have a Mondial QV... I love my Mondial with a passion. My car guy pals think I'm just a little bit strange, why you got a Mondial QV? Because it's just a cool car. What they don't understand is that I need cars to communicate with me....and it puts a smile on me face. This really is a cool car. —John Pogson – The Drive May 2016 6 Time British Championship Winner for Ferrari 15 Years Ferrari Engineer in Maranello 25 Years Ferrari Specialist in Italia Autosport
Awesome, my apologies. Sorry, I thought you had something against the Mondial simply by asking if they would dare bring it back on the 80th anniversary. Guess we'll find out in 5 years. Kindest regards.
