When I sought a CS a few years back, I wanted Nero and noted a premium over most other paint colors, except maybe the classic Rosso Corsa.

Of course, color is totally subjective - and if you have a wild paint scheme, you can tend to suffer unless and until you find the right buyer who must have that color - Putting that aside, what is conventional wisdom these days?

There are so many variants that it is tough to generalize, but - in the secondary market - what would be the relative value of a Scuderia (Putting aside that it is in and of itself rare) in Rosso versus Nero, verus Agrento, versus Giallo, versus Silverstone, etc? -- In other words, would an Argento Scuderia be valued much less than a Rosso Corsa or Nero, or....

I have watched with interest discussions about "color". There are so many red (all vairants) Ferrari's, when they get together it is like staring at the sun. Those who own a red Ferrari believe it will hold value best, while others believe black or even yellow. The truth, as I have witnessed it by watching ebay, visiting dealers, shopping and buying myself, is there is someone for every car (except the gaudy all yellows and blues for example) but some will sell quicker than others. I had a blue 360 that took 3 months to sell because it had chrome wheels (apparently only me and "right buyer" like the wheels). It sold for the price as I knew it would. At the end of the day, if you are buying a car to sell quickly buy a red one, otherwise, buy what you want. My latest 430 is Silverstone and Cuio and I have offered what I paid for it several times. most of the -uk anyway- CS' were red but i dont really think the colour has that much of an impact on resale . People that want a TDF car for instance will pay the asking price , just the same as people who want rosso scud will. The big difference with 430 scuderia is the special edition paint is so expensive that most buyers will stick to normal production colours. FYI , here is breakdown of UK CS by colour

    Total production was 119

    Argento Nurburgring 4
    Blu Tour De France 10
    Giallio Modena 3
    Grigo Titanio 1
    Nero DS 1
    Nero Daytona 5
    Nuovo Nero Daytona 10
    Rosso Corsa 27
    Rosso Scuderia 58

From conversations with West coast dealers, I've learned that, A) You can never go wrong with red and B) the West coast can sell every black 430 they can get their hands on. Red or black (in my opinion) are the only two colors to consider "IF" that really makes a difference to you, as opposed to just buying it for your enjoyment.

I had a grigio alloy 360 but it took a long time for FA to sell. My F430 is rosa corsa but this is because it is what I wanted. It also has the fastest resale. I have been told that red cars bring about a 5k premium. Black is a ***** to keep perfect and shows every rock chip. I have had a black 911 for years and know that for a fact. Having said all that buy the color that makes you happy. Ferrari's don't make any sense anyway and 5K either way is an oh well.

Mine took 6 months and was priced fair. Me and only one other person liked the color I guess. The red one sold in 10 days.

It's called "resale red" for a reason.

I watch the local dealer's inventory on a regular basis and, all things being equal (price, options etc) it's not hard to notice the red Ferraris turn over faster than other colors.

When I started looking for my first Ferrari a few years ago I thought the notion of a red Ferrari was too cliché and I actually didn't consider the red cars. But the more I saw the red ones, the better they looked and I ended up buying a red 360 (recently sold) and now have a new red 430 and if I get a chance to buy a Scud... it'll be red too (with stripes).

You need to buy the color that will make you feel thrilled every time you go into your garage and flip on the lights.

In the UK most of the cheapest 360 cars are Silver (excludes the CS). As we speak, the cheapest ten 360's are broken down to 8 silver cars (the first 8 are the cheapest 360's available and are ALL silver) followed by 1 red and 1 blue.

A huge number of cars on the road are now silver and as a result it is falling out of favor fast with buyers of almost all marques, not just Ferrari's. Rosso Corsa sells the absolute quickest and people either prefer conventional black leather interior or optionally crema. Mileage makes a huge difference to price (more so than age of the vehicle). Spiders fetch a hefty premium over the coupe's. Some options make the cars easier to sell quickly like Carbon Fiber seats but don't necessarily add all that much to resale price. People prefer standard cars (including standard alloy wheels) and full service history. The UK is probably the most obsessed market for manual cars vs automatics but even that is slowly changing with the introduction of newer models.

The trend I am noticing now amongst my friends is anything but red. That is for new cars. Will be interesting to see what happens when these cars hit the market in a year or 2

This demonstrates how different local markets can be. I've always had a soft spot for a crema interior on a Ferrari esp when combined with Rosso/Bordeaux carpets, but in the US you'll take a big hit for having a Crema interior. "There's an azz for every seat" means that it doesn't mean that it won't sell eventually, but you'll need to be patient to find the right buyer...

Color choice is completely subjective. For every person that favors red/tan, there is another who deplores it. There is a color for everyone and some don't like to choose what the masses have.
I have seen red/tan Ferrari's with desireable options and reasonably priced sit at dealers for months and months on end, with no sale. Finally they are simply wholesaled. Asking prices are fairly consistant for all the colors and I believe price is more dependant on mileage, condition and options.
IMO, a Ferrari in nearly any color is a work of art, but I do favor the classic models in red and the more modern shapes in darker colors. The bottom line is that one has to forget about others opinion's and buy what makes one happy. While all me other Spiders were red/tan, the current one is Black.

They always say that first Ferrari is red and second is something else. That's quite true, but I have two Rosso Corsa's in row...

Anyhow, I believe because of above the size..ehmm,.. color doesn't matter regarding the sales price!!

For new buyers; Red or black.
For seasoned buyers other colours are found attractive by many

I must be a different kind of cat. I don't plan on selling any of my Ferrari's. I buy them with the intention to keep them forever. When I buy a car. I buy something that I like not something I think some other sap will like if I sell it.

I did sell my 348 at one point, a mistake I corrected by buying it back later :). Those who die with the most Ferrari's wins!

I don't think you could sell a white one within 5 years in the UK! The only white Ferrari I ever saw was a 208 back in 1989.

All three of my Fcars have been red not that I have an issue with other colors I looked at a silver 360 when looking for one and would have bought if the spec and price had been right for me.

I think that the V8 cars look best in red although the V12 cars do not. I'd take a 550/456/599/612 etc in Grigio Titanio with Bordeaux leather anyday. The only exception would be the Enzo. The only colours I do not like any Ferrari in is White or Grigio Ingrid (Jewish Racing Gold).
