Well it wasn't me. If I had to guess I would say it was someone driving to Lake Forest. I think its just more of some bad luck for your indentifying statement... I have experienced this as well as I got to talk to a 348 owner at a gas station and mentioned Fchat and FOC. Have yet to see any 348s be a part of Fchat. As I am on the road most of the spotting I do is of an Fcar going the other way as well and obviously kills any chance of a conversation. What is a bit discouraging is that many of the super-Ferrari owners, ( ie: F50, Enzo, any rare classic, ) always seem too busy and that is a given since they must be responsible chaps or ladies to afford such vehicles. No fault on their part in any sense. It would be nice to have a bunch of 360s invade one of Frank's hotdog joints or some Enzo or 250 TR owner rest his million dollar ride on a city street to join Andrea's F1 lunches. However, I fear this is the type of crowd, for whatever reason, that usually frowns on such ideas. Does that make them bad? I don't think so as we all have our own tastes. It also comes to no surprise that so many people have to take in account their own family or obligations they can't get out of. If I were in a similar situation, I would fall into the absent category too much. I would rather spend time with my girlfriend or god-daughter than go riding around with the boys in the H2. People have so much to do, and this contributes to the lack of spotting and shows to the events. In the end and to the great success of Fchat and the local FOC, great and heavily admiring Ferrari people/owners really fuel whatever we have. Andreas, Frank and Dave simply are keeping the ball rolling. Our drives and almost 95% of all interactions are being done by the 308 crowd. The lack of the super Ferraris is definitely being made up by extra effort and love for a car by the people we have now. We have yet to have a 288 GTO lead a drive to Wisconsin. I don't see any Enzo owners saying they have the experience to win at the next Go-karting gig. Despite absences and lack of variety, I for one am definitely enjoying it because of who is involved already. RocketBoy
Thanks Dave for the kind words. It would be more fun if some of the super Ferraris would show up at an event. Which is why there is the Gumball price for 12 cylinders. But luckily we got your 575 once in a while.
Yes,Thank-You VERY Much,David! I see that You definitely "Get It".... Yes,I too have alot of Responsibilities. Wife,Teenage Daughter who is Very Involved right now with Volleyball, and 2 Basketball teams. Band. School stufff.Etc... And,getting my Son every other weekend, having to drive back and forth to St.Charles to get him. A House with a Big Yard. Starting up a new Business,(for next Year) Lots of Doctor Appointments for my Broken up old Bod. Church,(Believe it or not... And,plenty of other stuff. Graduations. Birthdays. Weddings. ETC...ETC...ETC....We all do! But...I don't Golf... So,that leaves me with some time to Take my Ferrari out for a Drive. No,not every single weekend. But,as often as I possibly can...And,we are just trying to offer lots of opportunities for others to also. If you can't make this one, maybe you can make the next one. I mean,I enjoy the Car Shows. The Concours. The Cruise Nights. They are nice once in awhile. But,I just can't sit still All Day and look at the Same Cars over and over and over again. I want to DRIVE my Ferrari...as much as Humanly possible! As Enzo INTENDED! I waited a long time to get that car,and I want to Drive it and enjoy it. And,having to deal with Winter,Bad Weather. Heavy Rains. Hail. Snow. Then, add Responsibilities to that. Sure doesn't leave a heck of alot of time left for Driving. And,I really appreciate the responses from those who, don't yet own a Ferrari...But want to someday. I was like that once, too. I don't mind "Sharing" my Car with the Ferrari Starved Public....(NOT Driving it.... ) And,if they share the Passion, they are Welcome to join us. I wish I knew someone that owned a Ferrari when I was a Teen. I knew alot of people who owned Vettes and Muscle Cars. And,Harleys... And,got into those, too when I was younger. And,for all of us that Have been going on these drives. We sure have been having alot of Fun,haven't we.... Bigger and better things to come next Year....Watch....
One more thing...You know,we plan these drives for Everybody...not just us. I would like to see everyone else out here Enjoying their Ferrari's/Exotics with us,if they can. These are planned for Everyones benefit. We get nothing for doing it,other than some Fun,A Nice Day,Getting out and Driving our Beautiful Ferrari's when we can,and the Comaraderie of other Owners/Enthusiasts. Thats all... To me,thats what it's all about...
