much of the track is public roads, so it's possible they don't have the legal right to cut down someone else's trees...but yes, they should have compensated with other safety measures like safer barriers or deeper tire walls. the lack of safety at this track has been exposed several times in this race.
My heart sank when I saw his car, and especially the body language of the corner workers as someone else mentioned. It hurts as a fan of racing and those talented drivers who are skilled far beyond my perception. I am even more heartsick for those here who knew him, and especially for his close friends and family. RIP.
My thoughts were there, I watched the Earnhardt accident, drove home and could not believe what I heard. Watching the accident of this young man with a great future, I thought, how could this be, the car appeared to hold up. Sad loss.
This is such a tragedy!! I have seen and talked to Allan a couple of times, and I was shocked when I heard this. I was at a pool party some years ago, where he and I talked racing all night till 7 in the morning. He was such a cool guy and a genuine. My heart goes to his little family, who is now without him. It's hard to keep the tears away, even though I had met him only a couple of times Such a tragic loss. RIP!!

The family have also come out in support of the Le Mans Org. There have been a lot of flak directed against the Le Mans org because of lack of security etc. The family say that the critical comments etc. won't bring back Allan. They have personally witnessed how it works with the security, and they have no complaints about it. They didn't get the impression that the organisation was saving money on security. All it was, was a freak accident. Respect to them.
Drove past the memorial yesterday on the way home from work. Was packed with people. RIP Allan! Image Unavailable, Please Login
