Restaurant recommendation in Melbourne and Sydney

Melbourne

1. Attica - best restaurant in Australia, No 32 in the world. Booked months ahead but you might get lucky

2. Vue de Monde - excellent fine dining

3. The Press Club- fine dining with Greek themes

Next are less formal but excellent

4. Chin Chin - Busy funky Asian food

5. Supernormal - hip place, Asian fusion

6. Hellenic Republic - Melbourne Greek food with a slight modern twist

Sydney

1. Quay - best fine dining in Sydney by far
Excellent views

2. Bennelong - fine dining in the most iconic building in Australia (Sydney Opera House)

Less formal

3. Cafe Sydney- upmarket, order the cold seafood platter. Great views

4. Ester - quirky, highly rated, order the baked Mud Crab

5. Mr Wong - upmarket Asian, order dumplings, lobster with black pepper

6. Worthy mentions - Chin Chin (sister restaurant Melbourne), Alpha (Greek lamb at its best)

Have fun, plenty more to choose from. Stay away from the touristy restaurants, rubbish

In Sydney, I'm a big fan of the Gantry, a more casual waterside spot. But then I come from QLD, what do I know about fine dining?

 

QLD is a great place, the only drawback is it's full of QLDers, they ruin the vibe for normal people

 

Good god, NZ is the last place you want to go if you're going to have a good time ... unless you want to shake, rattle and roll

 

Well, I hope you're coming here on business, because there's bugger-all to see in those two smelly places. Sydney does have the harbour, and any dining there really should be waterside. Melbourne has... help me out here, guys, why does any body go to Melbourne? Anyway, both cities are full of strange, Southern folk.

Go to Queenstown. Dust the north Island.

You'd like Queenstown JM, you can wear your trackie dackies there all year round.
