Hello! I'll be in Siena, Luca, Florence and Rome and looking for some great recommendations. Thanks in advance GJ
My favorite place in Rome. Capricci Siciliani Via di Panico, 83, 00186 Roma, Italia 066 873666 tavernadelduca.com Not uncommon to see high level government officials there, order the salt baked sea bass. Wear loose fitting pants and don't be in a hurry.
Bit outside of Rome, but has some of the best lamb anywhere. Ristorante Sibilla di La Mura Luigia Via della Sibilla, 50, 00019 Tivoli RM, Italia 0774 335281 ristorantesibilla.com
Excellent food down the old Appian Way, next to the catacombs. Normally ranked top 10 in TripAdvisor.com for Rome. Remember, lots of places are closed in Italy during August. Hostaria Antica Roma Via Appia Antica, 87 00179 Roma, Italia 06 5132888 http://www.anticaroma.it/en/index2.html
Santo padre in rome is one of the best easy to find by your hotel, its off the via venteto by the embassy , order the slow roasted pig, the best in the world!! in florence take a trip to vist Dario the butcher (about 40 min) antica macelaria there u will find a steak all fiorentina, dario is the most famous supplier of meat in italy and quotes Dante, etc, If u do not have accomadation in fierenza yet my friend is the son the x-mayor and has a fantastic part of his villa he rents only to friends (referrals) its 15 mile out of florence with train stop 1 mile away, pool 10 acres veranda beautiful and same price as a hotel! by the way almost anywhere u eat in italy is good even the autogrill on the highways!! if u pm me i can give u other restaurants etc shopping
Try finding small restaurants outside of the tourist areas. Some of the best food I had in Italy was at several mom and pop restaurants in Naples. I've been trying for 8 years now to find a four cheese pizza as good as the one I had at one of the restaurants. I haven't even come close.
Bump. I will be in Italy shortly in Rome, Pompeii, Florence, and Venice and I'm really looking forward to getting the full but cheap student experience. While I can't afford fancy dinners, what are the best foods/local picks that I should really try to really make the best of this experience?
