My wife and I will be in St Augustine for our anniversary next weekend and I was wondering if anyone could recommend a top notch restaurant. Our favorite types of food are probably steak or Italian; however, we are open to any type of stand out local place. The only thing that is a definite no is a seafood restaurant.

    Thanks,

    Scott

I was there a few days before Christmas with family and I ate at O.C. Wells. Between Mahi Mahi, a Ribeye, Steak Fiilet, and Chicken Parm, everything they had was of very good quality in my opinion.

When I'm in St. Augustine, I always eat at Columbia, on the corner of St. George and Hypolita in the old city. Fine Spanish cuisine in a historic building. I particularly like their signature "1905" salad, the best entree salad I've had anywhere. And then you can buy a bottle of the dressing in their gift shop to take home with you. Both the salad and the sangria are prepared at your table.

I live in St Augustine and am familiar with all of the restaurants mentioned.
Collage is really a fantastic choice with contemporary world cuisine, great service and a nice wine list but no hard alcohol.
Columbia is a tourist destination but still ok food and charming atmosphere if seated in a good room but would not recommend as a top notch destination.
Harrys serves New Orleans style Cajun food which is ok but spicy and heavy and is very crowded and noisy.
There is a great little Italian place on Charlotte Street called La Pentola with extremely good food and service but only serves beer and wine.
The Tasting Room serves contemporary Spanish cuisine including wonderful tapas choices and is a great choice but also beer and wine only.
Cellar 6 is a small cool spot with fine food as well.
95 Cordova at the boutique hotel Casa Monica has really sophisticated food, full liquor, great atmosphere and is a wonderful choice.

    SO...top choices are
    La Pentola- great Italian
    Collage- Contempo cuisine
    Tasting Room- New World Tapas
    95 Cordova- Sophisticated Continental

I also like a little place on A1A just south of the Bridge of Lions called the Gypsy Cab Company. Probably too low-brow for some, but their "urban cuisine" is quite interesting.
