I am starting the restoration of my 1964 330 quad headlight serial #5933 The car was delivered with Blu Celeste 19321 M It (ITALVER) exterior and Blue Nuvola VM3015 interior. it seems very difficult to find the correct shade of blue. On the net the Blu Celeste 19321 goes from a blue-greenish titanium colour to light blue metallic, as for the interior, the VM3015 shades range from light blue to a blue-greenish tone…..i am totally lost on this…. can anyone guide me in the correct direction on this ? Paint chip cards, leather swatch samples ? thanks !
A good place to start: http://www.330gt.com/ http://www.330gt.com/Encyclopedia/PaintColors.htm Some history on your car: http://www.330gt.com/Detail/5933.html Then poke around here: http://tomyang.net/ And if all else fails, as Marcel. Good luck with your restoration! Sincerely, Art S.
For leather samples, see Leather Colors (330gt.com). Home - HVL Class Leather (hvlclassleathers.com) in the Netherlands can provide a sample of the VM 3015. I would appreciate it if you would register your ownership of 5933. Go to 330 GT Registration Form. Regards, Kerry Chesbro 330 GT Registry (www.330gt.com)
I can’t speak to 1960’s paints, but when painting a Dino to historical colors, I have multiple Paint Samples that all differ even though they have the same code, same age, but yet they vary...... some more blue, some more green, etc.... To make matters worse, when one applies modern paint mixing techniques, it doesn’t even match historical paint cards. This is not an easy problem to solve. Shawn
Yves, regarding leather, Connolly is now producing the Vaumol series. Your car would have VM-3015 and VM-8500 in its interior. Connolly will send you samples of these two for the asking. I bought from them and I was happy with their product and service. https://www.ukhide.co.uk/product-category/connolly/ Regarding the color, your best bet is to find a corner of the car that still has a good representation of the original paint, then color match it. john
Hi Art, Thanks for the feedback! The Registry and Tom Yang are well known to me, but no luck on definitive color info. Perhaps Marcel would be the way to go. Verzonden vanaf mijn iPhone met FerrariChat
Hey Shawn, True, this is a difficult one…. The issue is that we are not talking about small differences, but a totally different shade ! I checked out the 330 registry ( yes… ALL cars ….) with the same paint specs, and most of them have a bright light blue interior tone for VM3015 … I have ordered a leather sample from U.K. hides and the VM3015 is a blueish green ….. Hi Kerry, I purchased #5933 recently. I will register the car today and post the full restoration as we progress Verzonden vanaf mijn iPhone met FerrariChat
As said before 5933 GT was born Celeste 19321 M with Blu VM 3015. And as usual, I suggest contacting Roberto Bertaccini of Cremonini Classics in Lesignana (Modena), who is the best when it comes to these colors of the 50s to the 80s https://www.cremoniniclassic.it/ Marcel Massini Image Unavailable, Please Login

Marcel, thanks for the update ! This helps a lot , and confirms also that VM3015 changed a lot over the years. Verzonden vanaf mijn iPhone met FerrariChat
VM 3105 did not change. When you look at pix on the internet today or anywhere else on some screen (or worst case on a small iphone) you have to keep in mind that colors do change dramatically if a photo was taken inside or outside a building, under what light conditions, with or without flash, which angle, what kind of camera and lens used, etc. The visual impression will differ enormeously, and your eyes are not the same as mine or others. Always compare personally to an original mid-1960's leather sample. Even then, such a 57 year old leather sample may have changed color due to sunlight, same for a car that has spent most of its life outside in sunny California or Arizona, or simply stored for 50 plus years in a dark warehouse with little UV radiation. Old leathers: Feel it, touch it, smell it, look at it, it's called haptics. Lots of elements and parameters that do play a role. (And we haven't even started discussing about the grain, lots or very little, and the overall thickness of the leather. Modern leather is way too soft, too perfect, too clean, too flat, furniture leather, so to speak. You should see a leather sample from the 1950s when the leather was almost twice as thick and grainy as today. Things have changed). Marcel Massini

Yves I think Marcel's point is you can't tell that based of uncalibrated photos. I'm curious what your opinion will be with a sample in hand. Sincerely, Art S.
Typical not so good screen pic. Get a real sample in your own hand. No photo, no screen. Marcel Massini
Marcel, I have ordered a large sample of the VM3015 @Connolly . If VM3015 didn’t change , that would be the right way to go ! Thanks for the advice . Verzonden vanaf mijn iPhone met FerrariChat
Here is the Connolly Vaumol VM-3015 as issued in 1964 and as installed in 2019. Correct, the shades are not exactly the same, though I am happy that they are not; the new VM-3015 is a much more attractive color. john
Hey John, thanks for the pics ! Amazing car ! I had this feeling that the recent version is less blue and more green… and this shows in this stunning combo ! Originally the exterior of the 330 needs to be Blu Celeste… I don’t see the color of the interior being a match with that. Verzonden vanaf mijn iPhone met FerrariChat
Yves, try HVL in the NL. He has a hide that matches the Connolly Vaumol's grain and a blue in that hide that is much closer to the original VM-3015. In any case, you should get samples of both hides and a true sample for the "blu cleleste", then decide. john
Suggest to try MAIELI instead. You have to be able to speak Italian, however. Their English is limited. Stefania speaks some English.
