A guy pulled up to me yesterday and wanted to race me, he was in a Chevy Impala and of course I just waved and laughed, then he took off and I saw the round rear lights and went ACK! God help me if I did the conversion and someone mistook me for the Impala.

    jvbjr,
Kevallino is right. The 348's grate is symbolic of the model. Don't fight the urge. Keep it original.

I have to laugh about your comments concerning being mistaken for an Impala. It can happen. About a month ago a gentleman walked up to me (from the back end of my car) at a gas station and asked me if my 328 gts was a new Mustang? Needless to say I had to enlighten him that the emblem no the trunk said FERRARI!

During our summer trip I snapped this picture of an impala 355 which was the closest thing to an imitation Ferrari we had seen in about 1000 miles of travel. You won't have that problem with the 348 tail light treatment. Keep it original.

    I dig the grates, too.

But...why do some of our 348 Spiders have the chrome "348spider" badge on the rear decklid, whereas other 348 Spiders do not have it?

    hello,

i believe the first 1994 348 spiders (built in early 1993) had the badges on them. the later ones didn't. from what i've seen (on e-bay and in other forms) that the 94' spiders were all built in 1993 and the 95' spiders were all built in 1994.

according to "ferrari 1947-1997 the official book" they indicate that manufacturer year 1993 was the lowest production in a decade. only 2,289 cars were built. ferrari appeared to introduce the 348 spider to revive the model range as soon as possible.

but what do i know, i own a porsche
