http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/news/60...a_returns.html I was just reading in autoexpress that the new Imola 600, the 575 replacement, may be called the F600 Testarossa. What will this mean for the image of the 80's Testarossa? Pricewise they are at a low at the moment, I can only think this will boost the image and strengthen prices. What do you guys think?
Couldnt log onto article attached, but if the F600 testarossa does come out, The prices could go both ways: one way would be strengthing the image of the testarossa and stability on older models or there may be a new line of testarossa's being built post F600 which could mean steep depreciation of the iconic models that some of us have... thats my opinion of course, anyone care to comment.
Revival of 80' testarossa is a dream for me, but i think that the 600TR (or imola) will be with front motor, i want central motor for new testarossa. best regards from Antonio.
Honestly I think it's a bit too early to use this historical name again, the previous Testa Rossa's and Testarossa's symbolised a car decade in a way. And the previous/most recent use of the name Testarossa isn't THAT long ago to be remembered or brought back again already IMO By dedicating a modern car too it now (that will obviously be a completely different vehicle again) I'm affraid that the eighties model will be losing some heroic feel in some way. What I'm trying to say is that, if there comes a new Testarossa, this car will probably, by a lot of people, be compared with the older car while that will be a completely ridicilous task. Between the Testa Rossa and the Testarossa there were roughly about 25 years or so, in my point of view the Testarossa was a dedication to the legendary Testa Rossa. With it's performance and especially it's unique design it soon became a legend itself. Now with the latest "Testarossa", the 512M still being produced in 1996, not even 10 years ago!, I'm affraid it will be a comparasion, not a dedication That way it will be a REALLY difficult task to become a true legend itself. Certainly because the world has changed and it will be more difficult to impress the crowd design- and performance wise these days. Marketing wise it could be that some people will buy the new car just because it's called Testarossa. But it's not really original IMO, Ferrari can come up with better idea's now and better wait another 10 to 15 years to bring up the name again! That way it could be a REAL dedication again, not a marketing-move that results in a comparasion with an older car that still lives fresh in the memory! The new car deserves better than that. I think a dedication to the 750 Monza fe would be a better move. Just my opinion of course Of course, on a sidenote, whatever the new car will be called, I'm a Ferrari lover so I'm sure I will be impressed and LOVE this car as well! After all, every Ferrari will always have something special and I'm really intrested in how the new car will amaze the world this time! Ciao, Alexander
For those of you with access, page 20 issue 149 of Cavallino magazine has photos of the "non-existant" 575 replacement and the baby Ferrari.
