Sunday night, 9/11, I arrived in TX for a business trip. I had heard there was going to be an italian car show that weekend. That night, in the valet row, I spotted an interesting classic (Iso Grifo?) that looked something like a replica on a corvette stingray shell, though it looked very authentic at the same time.

Obviously, I wasn't about to hunt down the owner, but could someone tell me more about this piece of art? A valet guy advised that the car had a 7 liter engine capable of around 400hp.

Very cool car indeed. Other than that, there was a Fiat 124 in the garage the next day, and a nice Maserati coupe as well.

That was probably the ISO Grifo that was at the car show on Saturday. I talked to the owner. It is factory-powered by a hi-performance Corvette engine (350, I believe) with the high-performance auto tranny. The interesting thing is that the engine/tranny combo was supposedly never offered in the Corvette that year, but ISO ordered the combo special for their vehicle. If I remember correctly, the body design is by Giugiaro but at the time that model was produced, the coachwork was done in-house by ISO.

There are 3 pics of the car in my album from the show:

I forgot what state he was from (TN or MS, maybe?), but he drove the car to the show.
