Paul - you may want to post this in the Dino section - it depends what manual you want - originals are mega bucks - then there's Ebay then there's the factory site (you need to register and it takes a while but....) which may have some free downloadables - also the UK official classic parts operation (see under sponsors) may have official photocopies

Hi Everyone. I'm always on the lookout for information about my car:

It's a 77 308GTB (22399) originally a New York car. its condition suggests its been well looked after in its earlier days but I have no documentation for it. If anyone would like to shed some light on it I'd be most appreciative. It was shipped to England in 1998 - I know that much.

If anyone knows where 275GTB #8377 is, I have an invoice from the Ferrari factory from 1970 which I believe is for work done to this car. back then it was owned by a mr. D.K.Shead.

Since my car (Dino 308 GT4 serialnumber 09834) came without any of the original documents, I bought another complete set (pouch, warranty book, dealer book and instruction manual); this set is for serial number 13198, delivered on the 15th of March 1977 by Kroymans (Dutch importer) to "Expoitatie Maatschappij" in Marken Binnen, the Netherlands. The first unused warrant card is for 40000km or 25000 miles.

Later I did a quick search on this car, it might be located in South Africa at the moment. I am quite willing to swap this set of documents for another with the owner of #13198.

Of course it would be great if someone has the documents of #09834 :D

Yes it would be great to get all original info back to a car. I just ran across the window sticker for my old vette. I never thought about selling it. I'm looking forward to finding the owner and provide it to him.

I now also have available (but only to the owner of the car) the original Warranty and Service booklet for 308GTB #18943, one of the earliest Vetroresina cars.
Does anybody know where this car is?

This is a good thread: since buying my 71 Dino at auction (complete but with bits missing - being restored now) I have come to realise the intrinsic value of the original docs; unfortunately I didnt receive any books etc etc so if anyone knows of 02424 I'd really appeciate the lead.

I'm happy to announce that the invoice (for a 275GTB2) I mentioned in one of my earlier posts is now on its way to the current owner of the car, thanks to Mark Shannon. This is the reason I started this thread in the first place. Below I have copy/pasted all the items for sale by Ferrariliterature.com that relate to a specific chassisnumber. Having posted these numbers in this thread makes them searchable in the future, even if the links become dead.
    Cheers!

Indeed it is, if only human nature will allow it...a lot of us would willingly help, I think, but it is a complicated thing.

I have 86 Testarossa #60447, but on closer examination a few months after I got the car, the Warranty book came from car 60667 and from dealer Lake Forest in Chicago. It had been rather obviously hand-altered to make it look like my 60447...and my car shows on title search to have been sold new by dealer in Houston.

That thread on single mirror Testarossa still shows no listing for 60667, so who knows how these books got switched?

Maybe that is typical of the tangled web we weave...

BTW, if you go to the Classiche program, can/(will) they make you all new manuals like this? If so, how do you go about replicating the service records if they are gone like mine? Probably just start from the Classiche program and go forward?

I've had my 308 for 2.5 years. Today I got the pouch and books from the prior owner, who had said he coudn't find them, in the mail.
Christmas came early. I had purchased a Euro 308 OM because it was all I could find, anyone need it?

Here's a related story that illustrates what a small world this is, especially with the internet:

Maybe 5 years ago, I was walking out of my bank and found a guy admiring my 328 GTB. He went on to say he used to own one and told me lots of stories only a few of which I really believed. Anyway, as I was leaving, he asked me if I knew anyone who would be interested in the books and tools from his car. I asked why they were not still with the car and he said he just wanted to keep some souveniers from it. I said I would buy them and he quoted me a good deal so I thought I could make some money on ebay. So, I bought the tools, jack kit and all the books and manuals. When I got home, I was looking through the books and discovered it really was a GTB (rare in its own right) and had the VIN#. The 328 registry on Fchat had just begun, so I checked it and found the VIN# and owner now in the San Diego area. So, I PM'd him asking if he had any interest in the books and tools to his car. Of course, the response was enthusiastic and we quickly made a deal for what I think was a good deal for the owner. He had bought the car from a dealer who kept promising the books but then went out of business. We later figured out the car had actually been repo'd and that's why stuff was missing. I was fortunate to meet the new owner on a business trip, see the car and have lunch. The internet is great!

Although the orig. documents would be nice I would like to find a way to trace the dealer and 1st buyer of my car. I can only go back 2 owners and I believe there are 2 more to find the point of sale.
Also I think people who keep parts that belong with the car are jerks. The OM and tools are the same as the spare tire and should stay with the car. I find it hard to believe that anyone with the money to buy and then sell these cars are so cheap as to keep these parts.

Any early documentation for my 308 QV # 54173 would be appreciated - esp. service book, owners manual, warranty card etc. It was imported new into South Africa in January 1985. I bought it in 2003 without any of this and have spent the last 4.5 years getting toolkits, books, targa cover etc together. What a PITA.

Alternatively, if anyone has a Euro 308 QV owners manual for sale, please PM me. I am a willing buyer! I have also advertised in FerrariAds but no luck yet.

    Thanks.

    james,
carfax is moderately useful if you want to know where a car has been. when it comes to
who owned the car, did it have appropriate maintenace (read major service) and what problems
have been experienced, you can save your money.
gabriella, my '87 328gts #70277, was woefully lacking in anything. no tools, no books, no
service records (except from the selling dealer) who just did the major before i bought her.
carfax gave me some leads which i followed back to the cal smog board who gave me her
license # for washington dot where i hit the brick wall. state secret you know!!
so yeah, i would love to know her lineage. catch is being able to manuever the system.
as they say, "you pays your money and you takes your chances".
whoever kept her papers and tools probably sold them on ebay anyway.

Dunno why I just noticed this thread....FerrariLiterature feels a full pouch of early 308GTB docs is $5K........

    I have full books/tools on 308GTB #22127 and 22641.

If anyone runs across docs on 308GTB #20405 I'd be interested, wrecked and color changed early after 1977, it's been with Jerry Fisher since 1981 and is doing fine as a red/black car! LOL!
