BigTex, who or what is FerrariLiterature? That seems like a pretty healthy whack for some docs, even on that particular car. BTW, Bill Brooks - my initial purpose in the CarFax was primarily to see if I got a hit to show me the car still exists. But, you are right that it does not do much to really track an unknown car down.
A guy down in Florida started it as a hobby, they advertise in Cavallino.. I toyed with the idea of buying them for #20405.....then ordered two new ANSAs......LOL!
It's the full docs, lube charts, all supplements and the leather pouch, all in excellent condition. I tried several times to track that Flea Market vendor down over his three CRATES of 'furrin car' stuff. Damn imagine if he had any of the earky US V12 cars! Books/tools for a 275GTB or Daytona..it boggles the mind. he never returned any of my calls, I would have inventoried it FOR him......
Yeah - they are scare as chicken teeth at a chicken ranch. I guess I am over the initial shock. Maybe I should have put it in the context of the cost of a Testarossa fitted luggage set? Anybody want to buy my factory original portable lighter socket map light? I could let it go for the cost of my next major...
Don't know how I missed this thread originally either. What a great idea! I'll take any info or paperwork to go with '78 308 GTS 23421. It was originally all black over red car. Next it was red/boxer trim over cream/black. Now it's red/boxer trim over black. I only have info going back two owners, both were in Southern California. Thanks, John
sorry if this was already mentioned, but mopar guys have a longstanding policy of handing over paperwork to their rightful owners. there are registries that keep track of it. the # matching engines generally are not held for too much ransom either. The build sheets for some mopars were stuffed in the seat cusions usually. and it's not uncommon for people to still find other's buildsheets in their car. there are clearing houses for this type of thing. #'s matching and build sheets are taken very seriously in that part of the hobby.
This thread got me looking back through the records that I do have for my car (back to about '95). I found a letter from a previous owner to the couple I bought the car from. He explained that Bobileff had done all the service work while he owned it and could provide copies of paperwork. I contacted Gary Bobileff and he will be shipping copies of everything he has for the car this week. He said he remembered the owner and the car well. I also found a slip that showed that owner had bought the car from Symbolic Motors. I contacted them to see if they have any more history on the car available. Maybe they'll have more info! Thanks for getting me started on the hunt! John
I was the fortunate recipient of the manuals, records, and toolkits that Dave (hardtop) found for my car. Talk about a coincidence! As Dave stated, the dealer's promises of 'forthcoming manuals' were empty, just like their showroom two weeks after I purchased the car. After a lot of unsuccessful searching for ANY records/manuals/toolkits for my car ('88 GTB) I was about ready to give up. Then, in a stroke of luck, right after I register my car on the Fchat 328 list Dave contacts me to say he not only found them but went the distance to acquire them for me. Through Fchat I found the original documents & tools, AND found a new friend. It doesn't get any better than communities like this. Thanks again Dave and Fchat! Vincent
Hi there Does anyone know of the current owner of s/n 38277, a RHD 308 originally registered in the UK as TBC 306 X. ALL the documents, warranty cards, service books, original folder etc are for sale on EBAY in the UK. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110204375791&ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ:GB:1123 I have spoken to the vendor to get the s/n as I was thinking of trying to track down the current owner via this forum. BTW I am not the seller, yada yada yada.... This would make a nice (expensive) christmas present, but worth it for the current owner I think. I will post this in the 308 and Uk forums as well. Good luck Dave
This needs to be sorted by chassis # , in something like an Excel spreadsheet format. It's a great thread but tedious to find a chassis #. to find missing docs.
I cant seem to find it, but didnt I read somewhere around here that you can get a reprint of your window sticker directly from Ferrari? I'm fortunate that is all thats missing from my car... but i'd rather have that than the maintenence book! Anyway, if that is possible, does anyone have the contact info, what department, etc?
Manual pouch and contents for Daytona #17005 for sale on eBay: http://cgi.ebay.com:80/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150229307959&ssPageName=ADME:B:EF:MOTORS:1123 Description:Original Ferrari Daytona pouch/manual set for serial number 17005. Excellent condition. Notice strap on pouch is missing. Please check my other auctions. If you have any questions please contact me at [email protected]
Not tedious at all. If you have a car, type your chassis# in the search function and if any info that has been posted regarding your specific chassis# will show up. I agree that for example the owner of #0846 will have a lot of threads to sift through The reason why I also post all the info I read in temporary ads (like eBay or other commercial advertisers) is exactly to make the info searchable in the future.
this is a great thread and can be very useful. I will be looking at it to find stuff for my cars. I once bought a toolkit for one of my daytonas and it had 14523 s/n marked on the handle. (I may be wrong)...however since i dont have another toolkit for it, i dont think I would want to sell it. Herein lies the problem. I will check the number later and correct if necessary.
Really good idea! There seems to be a demonstrated need for this thread - and it clearly includes the cars the docs need to be mated to. How about the sticky thread being named "Misplaced (Lost?) cars and documents clearinghouse", or some such. I am lucky enough to have a lot of the documents for mine but no history for the first 5 Years for 10069. Cheers Warren
I went to my garage and checked the s/n written on the tool roll...could hardly decipher it, I suppose time didnt treat it well...I peered over the handle for half an hour, and the best I could come up with, 14193, 14123 or 16193 and 16123. Braden and Roush's book should shed some light as this is marked as a USA model. Sorry I could not get better information. I bought this tool roll for one of my daytonas which was missing a tool roll back in the eightees. One day, I will run into something where i wrote the number down.
