Carbon, you are awesome! :-)
Is it safe to assume you're the current owner? How long have you had it? Did you buy it from Black Horse? I saw it there about a year ago. How many miles are on it? In the mid-'80s, it was owned by Ferrari Owners Club member Richard Stonely of Los Angeles. Then it fell off the radar until it showed up at Barrett-Jackson in 2000, at their Scottsdale auction. Rick Carey did a writeup about the auction in Ferrari Market Letter issue 2503: yellow with black interior; visually maintained, largely original, condition 3, sold for $28,090; air, Blaupunkt cassette, shows 60,259 miles. Good older repaint and original interior, blad spare tire, deep circumferential cracks in both front tires' sidewalls - apparently from being rolled while flat; owner said it'd been in storage for seven years. I saw it 16 October 2010 being serviced by Black Horse Motorcars, 60,300 miles. I saw it again, 15 February 2013, in the showroom at Black Horse, all cleaned up, 60,388 miles; saw it again, 29 April 2013, same place, same mileage.
Hi, thanks for the updated info, this is very helpful, though it does beg to question why there has only been 200 or so miles put on her in the last 14 years. But I do know the previous owner was an older gentlemen and was in a very bad accident years ago, and when I met with him he had a hard enough time getting in and out of it, let alone drive it. I was told the story of this car going to auction years ago, but in fact never changed hands at the end of the day and was returned from the auction house to the previous owner who I recently bought it from. He owned it since 1987, which lines up with Ferrari owner club member of the mid-80's. Anyhow, when the car was returned from auction this is where the books and tools were lost, which I'm trying to locate. I understand the previous owner was storing it with Blackhorse for a number of years due to lack of space and health, or so he said. Seems to be a good honest car all around according to Blackhorse, which made me feel more comfortable about the sale, just needing a new home. I'm currently having the car serviced again with Blackhorse; belts, tensioners, injector, radiator work, etc. to have her road worthy and I intend to get that mileage up! I'm a huge fan of Fly Yellow 308's especially on the coupe and love the rarity factor of these cars, I just hope I'm not in for any more surprises. By the way it now has around 60,443 currently and as I mentioned will hopefully have more miles on her once fully serviced and road ready. Any more info would be greatly appreciated, thanks again for the info!
Great thread! Seeking any info, paperwork, etc for '82 308 GTBi 38595 Red / Tan. Originaly sold new at Las Vegas Honda - Ferrari, then made its way to the Los Angeles / San Diego area shortly afterwards. Thanks, Dave.
Probably the wrong place, but I'm gonna try anyway, Murcie Roadster # 2033 Started at Nelson Auto Group in Marysville, Ohio (Lamborghini Ohio) on 7/1/2006…and I am told the original owner bought 2 cars at the same time…. Would love the original sticker, paperwork or any other original documents
Very very sad that books and tools seem to go "missing" so much and owners have to BUY them back. Not really very nice to see your cars books for sale on ebay. I have had to rebuild a toolkit from scratch after the tools for 7323 went missing at auction If I were ever to sell then books and tools would go with it.
Hi, Anton... Are you saying you own 40839 and 33085? Or are you saying you own one of them (33085) and it has the book from another 308 (40839)? I only ask for clarification so that I may update my registry accordingly. Thank you.
