Well, since this is as close as I will ever get to owning one, I decided to make my own!! For those of you that know this beautiful large diecast, here is what I am doing to it in case you'd like to do the same. A complete makeover!! I took it all apart, drilled out the rear trunk, radiator, oil and gas lids which will be replaced with functional aluminum lids, follow it with a total repaint, a completely redone interior with leather seats, a totally redone engine, exhaust, etc. I will be coming up with a transkit for it as it definitely could use one. Check out the scratch built all aluminum gas tank in the rear trunk!! More photos will follow later.

    Hi Stephane,

Great project! Keep us in touch with your progress. The Revell GTO is a good model overall, but many improvements can be made to it. I am curious about your final result!

The tank looks great! I'm curious to see the finished product!
Can I ask what stuff you use for making parts and how it works?

I own Scaledetails, a business where I make and have manufactured aftermarket parts for the Pocher models, so I will be doing a transkit for this GTO later this year, cast parts and a photoetched plate for sure, maybe a cloth kit for the seats also.

All they have is a complex wire wheel kit with a full resin engine coming out next year. I expect my full transkit to be released in the fall, so stay in touch and if anyone else wants to be placed on a list, just let me know.

    Stephane -
Put me on your list. I own a Red one, and would really love to get a set of proper Borranis for it.

    Thanks,
    Greg

I am doing a complete teardown of the Revell 1/12... but I can't seem to get the interior of the doors to pry off without fear of breaking them. Any ideas or tips?

Each inner plastic door panel is securely glued onto 4 metal pins, so you will have to get in there and break them off, the metal door skins will not break. I wouldn't worry about the plastic panels as they can be replaced with real aluminum ones or they can be covered with a correct material. I am still trying to figure out what material they are made of on the real car, and I will have a kit for them in my transkit.
I think it will be best if I announce the arrival of the transkit on this site once it is ready for distribution. Thank you for the growing list of interested GTO owners!!
