Sorry...but this is b******t! The Murcielago was a clear step forward from the Diabolo. The Diabolo was always very weak on the front-axle as this unit was too smal in its dimensions. Audi improved the car to the 6.0-version and then (!) it worked very well. Most of the Diabolo owners never drove their cars in high speeds on the road and in twisty curves - I did and it was shocking (btw. even the legendary Walter Roehrl -remember Pikes Peak!!- didn`t like the handling of the Diabolo prior to the 6.0-version and he drives better than anybody on this entire forum!).

Luc D. visual design was great and still is - even when it was a bit updated during the last 2 or 3 years. Design is not only the looks of a car - its also has to reflect the technical layout of the car. And D. made it very well.

If you like the Reventon - OK, you`ll go for it - but try to sell that damn thing in some years.....! Bon voyage!

    Ciao!
    Walter

    You see ....?
that's YOUR problem, YOU see cars as a financial investment rather than a passional thing which is what Italian exotics are all about
    that explains a lot.

I'm not buying it so I don't mind about it's sticker price,

Neither you are ...So just ignore it's price

20 guys will pay for it
    without using your own money.

    what and yours will ???

how was the Murcielago bad in any way ?
forgetting about how dynamically superior it was, it looked fantastic and still does - the diablo at the end of its life had become a real mess stylewise (not that it was the best design in the first place)
imo it does a better job of replacing the diablo than the diablo did in replacing the iconic countach

im sorry but you need to understand that the price is (and has to be) a factor here.
for your 4 times the cost of a regular LP640 you simply arent getting enough for the money.

lets be realistic here, what exactly are you getting with the "uber lambo"
you arent getting superior performance - its gonna be the same as a normal LP640
you arent getting a new chassis - all the underpinnings are pure LP640
superior vehicle dynamics maybe - nah dont think so
in fact none of the following are going to be unique - chassis, engine, suspension, gearbox

so what is new about this "new model"

well its got a new bodykit - but come on it still looks like a Murcielago, simply one with a newly designed front and rear bumper. the side profile appears identical.

the dashboard looks fantastic - but when all's said and done thats not really a major change is it.

the wheels have some carbon fibre bits bolted to them - big deal

new rear lights - wow, thats just great

finally we get the 2 biggys - somehow these amazing extensive changes have warranted a new name and a fourfold price increase

so what can we summarise here - well to all extents and purposes the Reventon is "just another" Murcielago LP640, thats not saying its a bad car, just that it doesnt justify the ridiculous price increase and new name.

oh and one last thing. (and this is simply my own view)
if you think anyone is buying this car out of passion i suspect your sorely mistaken.
yes im sure that a lot of the initial people chosen would have been really passionate about the right car - but this aint it.
no ones going to buy this car to drive it hard - i mean why would they when they could buy 4 normal LP640's for the same money and get the same feel behind the wheel, the same performance and the same looks from 99% of the worlds population (eg they wont see any real difference and to them it will look the same as any other LP640)

Darlingkkk...I had a Miura SV, a Countach LP 400, a Ferrari 512 BBi, 2 M1`s, a Daytona, drove many, many race cars you never had seen or your hands on....and you tell me that I only see it as a financial investment??? There are exactly 1 Million reasons (plus VAT) against your thoughts! In such way only a person can talk when he doesn`t have the pockets for those 1 Million reasons.....!

If there would only be a better performance of this "something" I would say "OK" but...nada!

Went to preview night at the LA auto show. There were 4 Lambos on display. 3 were black...Super L Gallardo,
Gallardo Spyder and Murci (could have been LP640P) Spider. Then there was the Reventon. Two things surprised me. Most people were looking at the 3 black cars, and, the Revention is IMO, butt ugly. It looks exactly like a Murci with a cheap aftermarket radical body kit. And the interior is very plain. The car is, in a word, a complete joke. What is really a shame, and more than one person said it, is that Lambo did not bother to produce the Muira concept that they built 2 years ago. That concept was magnificent! It would have been that talk of the town. But no...they waisted their time building an overpriced junker that maybe 20 people on the planet will own and very few people will ever see one. (not that it is worth seeing!)

Funny how everyone complains the Reventon is just a rebodied LP640. Yet, I never heard one single person complain that the "new" LP640 was just a regular Murcie with with new bumpers, side skirts and a bump in HP.

*And the Muira was more lame looking than the 599.

Well, the reasons for not remaking the Muira is as the CEO of Lamborghini put it "When you recreate an old design, you've run out of ideas." I have to agree, as yeah the concept was nice, but it would devalue and demean the original Muira to remake it. Don't repaint the Mona Lisa. At least the Reventon is something new (love it or hate). I have yet to see the car in person, so I can't pass final judgement. From what I've seen, I like the side and back, but not the front. Would I ever buy one; no I'd be happy with the LP640, Diablo SV, and Gallardo SL I could buy with change left over. But I do understand the concept of it and what they where aiming for. But everyone has their opinion and I respect that. I defiantly think it's been the most talked about car of the year (both positively and negatively).

The funniest part about the car is that no one would whine about it had it not been an in house effort. If it had a Z or Pininfarina badge people would be drooling

    Dear Lamborghinisti,

True.....because we expect more from Automobili Lamborghini.

...don't know about the drool factor....it's still ugly. It really reminds me of the original "Batman" car from the TV series.

If the revention had 850 hp we wouldn't see it as such a hollow marketing effort.

I'll be keeping my Diablo VT Roadster thank you very much. :)
