will it make you feel better if i tell you i like it, whats wrong with the truth about this overpriced uncollectable car.
To all REVENTON haters : and those concerned about Reventon price/value ratio go back to 1984 when the Maranello people introduced the 288 GTO It was nothing but a limited edition car based on their most produced car so far how did they justified the GTO's high price ? by creating "only" 272 units but at the end of the day, it was nothing but a massive produced 308 with a slight face-lift. How is a 288GTO value today compared to a 308 current value? ..... Does it sound familiar ? P.S. the Lambo timing by releasing the LP640 before the Reventon was a big mistake the other way around, would have made a lot of sense. first the Reventon and then the LP640 upgrade would had increased LP640 sales ...by the time All Reventons would had been sold
I doubt it. The badging seems to say otherwise. http://www.lambocars.com/hr/hra.php?name=rev11&folder=rev There's a difference between telling the truth (which is actually your OPINION, NOT fact) and calling it a sh*t box. What does that make your car anyway?
WTF? A 288 GTO has almost nothing in common with a 308 except perhaps red paint. A completely different car! Why?
Disclaimer:I don't know anything about Ferraris But I think your 288GTO comparison is WAY OFF. Here is what I found: link: http://www.sportscarmarket.com/profiles/1999/February/Ferrari/index.html abbreviated story: 1985 Ferrari 288 GTO ================== When Ferrari announced in 1983 that it was to build a modern-day GTO, it sent the hearts of red-blooded Ferraristi into dangerous flutters. It was the 308 GTB that Ferrari chose as the base for the GTO, a car, like Porsches contemporary 959, designed for international Group B racing and for which a minimum of 200 examples had to be built. But although visually fairly similar to the 308, the left-hand drive only 288 was to differ radically under the skin. The engine was moved from a transverse to an in-line layout, necessitating a 4.5-inch increase in wheelbase. The engine was basically the 32-valve 308 V8 but strengthened in many areas with improved lubrication and cooling. It also had twin IHI turbochargers and twin intercoolers, separate Weber/Marelli ignition and fuel injection systems for each cylinder bank and a 1-mm smaller bore to give 2855ccimportant given the FIAs 1.4-turbocharger equivalency factor which multiplies capacity to 3997 cc, within Group Bs 4.0-liter limit. And potent the V8 certainly was, producing a highly impressive 400 bhp at 7,000 rpm and a huge 366 1b.-ft... ========that's all of the story I could get without subscribing. So, based on that the 288 GTO was NOT a cosmetic only deal...AND, was it priced 3 times higher than the 308? (brand new price, not price in later years) Seems the 288GTO is not an apples-to-apples comparison to the R... -J
Yes I know the GTO has it's engine mounted in a different way ...and added turbos but at the end of the day, they look alike only F. nuts (like everyboy in this forums) can tell the difference
haha the simple fact that you think the GTO is a facelifted 308 voids any comments you can make ... Thank you for playing.
the 288GTO and the 308 are completely different thing. the only same thing they had was the similar styling as well as the boxer. 288GTO sits on a completely different chassis, engine/drivetrain are different. car was built for racing. Reventon = LP640 + different body Still love the reventon
+1 Either we are swimming in an ocean of people way too young or worse too ignorant to even bother with arguing the point. Let's give them the benefit of the doubt here. If one is 14 years old the 288 GTO was already 9 years old and had been totaly eclipsed (performance wise) by the F40 when they were born. So it's understandable.
There were rumours about the production numbers increasing when the car was unveiled, I am sure they will only build 20.
I work for Lamborghini Canada, and thats what I was told when I originally enquired about it a while ago.......Things could obviously change, although I hope they don't
Mike, Sorry if it's been asked, but are there any Reventons coming to Canada? Are you at liberty to say which city(cities?) they'll come to?
2 parts. 1. Great for Lamborghini to make these cars to help generate funds for new replacements. 2. Imagine what the reventon is going to mean 10-20 years down the line to certain people? Even though many dont see now the value of an over priced reskinned murcie, people's perceptions might change and we might see a bright future (price wise) for the reventon in 10-20 years from now...
Anything's possible, oil could hit $100/barrel. Oh! I guess that already happened! Don't hold your breath on this one, The Edsel is still pretty cheap.
Do I care? No. Fact is, his post was his opinion, not the "truth" as he called it. Ah, I see. Besides the fact that he's obviously a salesman from his posts, how about the badging on the car already saying "xx/20"?
+1 If you don't like the car or think it is overpriced, that's ok. But why do you have to spill your hatred out here? There are many cars I don't like or think they are ridiculously priced, but I don't feel the need to go to their forum and tell everybody that the car they like is total crap. Time will tell whether the car was overpriced or not. My bet is, that the 20 owners won't loose a dime on it. But rather make a buck if they choose so.
