Hello everyone, I am relatively new to the forum. Recently ordered my first F car, it will be the F 8 coupe. Have a few questions: - Have any of you optioned reverse stitching on your cars? What is it really? - How critical is getting a lift on these cars? I understand it is a necessity on most Mclarens - Apple play? I almost never listen to media in these cars plus I am android. 1- reverse stitching or double stitch? 2- lots of opinions in the lift. Just do a forum search as it’s split about 50/50 whether you need it or not. I’m of the opinion you don’t need it 3- 5k for Apple car play on a info system that’s worse than a 2002 bmw. No thanks.
Image Unavailable, Please Login I did the reverse stitching on mine. Where my interior is red , it received black stitching. Where it is black ,it received the red stitching. I think this may be what you are referring to. Best , Kirk.
Thanks for the info. Are the stitches any bigger / spaced differently or just the color swap on background? Sent from my SM-F916U using Tapatalk
Reverse stitching. Is there a double stitch option? I think that would look really nice in red on black. Sent from my SM-F916U using Tapatalk
Regarding the Lift, when I was selling my 488 one of the sticking points was my particular car did not have lift, it caused some buyers to shy a way.
I need a lift. Cobblestone uneven streets. For me deal breaker. Incoming SF90 is without the Track Pack due to the lack of lifter. So sad If you need it order it, if not go without. It’s about 7k with the lights and lift. There are diehards in both camps. Personally I would not go again without and even on my prior FF I used it to some curbs, ramps and garages even road dips. Thanks for all the inputs, this is indeed a great forum.. The jury does seem to be split 50/50 on the lift and is possibly going to express similarly in resale. I think I will go with the lift to be on the safe side but no apple play. Have decieed on alcantara in the middle and I think double red stitching will look great to accent. I have opted for the standard seats without the electric option. Do you guys think it is a must hav3? I have CF seats in another car, those would be ideal but optinioning those on a F car is highway robbery. Sent from my SM-F916U using Tapatalk
standard seats, no electric (don’t need it if you’re the only driver), alcantara centers, red stitching....I love them on mine. No lift, and I never scape.....F8 not nearly as low as my gt3 Image Unavailable, Please Login
As others say, would skip the apple play.....skip the electric seats, but go with the lift. I believe it’s an asset if the car ever needs to go on a flat bed or negotiating a steep incline as in some multi level parking buildings. I passed on several cars without out the lift.
Here is a frame from David Lee's F8, is this the double stitch? looks thicker or just because it's white maybe. Image Unavailable, Please Login Sent from my SM-F916U using Tapatalk
Yes looks definitely better, seems like it is thicker as well and stands out more. Sent from my SM-F916U using Tapatalk
The dealer should have some stitch samples, but it's hard to tell without seeing it in an actual interior. A few pictures below. STC2 definitely stands out more, but I'm not sure if it's because the thread is actually thicker, or maybe because the stitching is "straighter". Notice that with STC1 the stitches are at a slight angle to the line direction, so there are slight gaps between the end of each stitch. STC2 looks like there is no or much less angle, with the ends of the stitches touching. So STC2 looks more like a continuous line, whereas STC1 is more "dashed" line. I'll note that the gaps in STC1 are a little more noticeable in tighter curves, so I'd recommend trying to see it in an actual interior - it kind of bugged me, so I went with STC2. I went with electric seats, but have started developing lower back issues as I get older, so needed to go with max adjustability/comfort. Thanks cchan842, you are right on. There is dead space between the angled STC1 stitching giving a less dense appearance overall. It is very hard to tell in a sample. Sent from my SM-F916U using Tapatalk
Image Unavailable, Please Login The part I have marked in red is now plastic. In the 488 it was leather and also in the Pista. Has anyone speced carbon on both sides ? Seems weird to spec carbon on the air sitting on a plastic part IMO.
There is something called STC2X it is apparently STC2 with special thread. The dealer is trying to get a sample for me to look at do you know anything about this one? Also how good/usable is the rear Camera? Worthit? Sent from my SM-F916U using Tapatalk
I think that is not an option on the F8, now I maybe wrong but you are correct that section would look better in carbon. Sent from my SM-F916U using Tapatalk
Are you in the US? Rear cameras are now required on all new cars so it will come with the car. It is fine. Just like any other rear camera as far as I can tell.
You can spec it in carbon but not glossy. So you need to select the matte option, which then turns all your interior carbon into matte carbon. I actually prefer the matte carbon inside, in particular with alcantara parts, so fine for me. Watch out, though, the matte option also makes the door sills matte, so I had to specifically select that part to be glossy again to match the glossy exterior carbon on the painted parts of the car.
