I will shortly need an exhaust for a 308 GTS 1981 carburettor, as mine has been patched up for the last time. Tubi do a nice system, but way beyond reasonable cost... Although I wanted the Tubi sound, I will not spend that much money on what is just a pipe! no matter how nicely polished. Other brand name suppliers have not responded to my e-mails yet. This leaves a stainless system made for and supplied by Superperformance (part 1454F) (www.superperformance.co.uk). They describe it as, "not too noisy but a rather pleasant racy noise". Has anybody fitted this system and were you pleased? Alternatively does anybody have any reconmendations of an aftermarket exhaust to fit to the standard manifold headers? I'm hoping for something not too loud, but critcally: 1) a good fit 2) Italian character - bright, brassy, rasping, yowling tone (not heavy and booming like an old rally car...) Any reviews would be appreciated. David
David, If you can't find a "NOS" ANSA, check out the Larini systems. Stainless steel, decent prices, good fit and finish, nice sound. I'm not familiar with the Superformance systems, but their wheels are really nice. Steve
I'm pleased with ANSA..have you checked with them? I know they do not offer all models fitment though.........
i had a local shop install a Magnaflow. $500.00 parts and labor. my 308 still had the original thermo reactor on it. the sound is great with the carbs! there are pics of my car somewhere with the exhaust installed.
Thank for the responses... I'll run down the ANSA and Larini options although I'm only getting USA web links for ANSA at the moment. I'm in the UK, so thermo-reactor and / or CAT convertors are not an issue for my car... at its age. We didn't bring CATs in until the mid 80's, when leaded fuel began to be phased out. That said I'm still getting 5 star 97 octane leaded from a local supplier!
David, wait for Russ to build up his test system and see what happens. I suspect he's going to get a very good sound from the system, and at a very nice price too.... http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=124323
Call Geoff at Partsource. He was a big help for me with an ANSA on my Dino. http://www.ferrariparts.com/ Dave M.
