    Hi,

not sure if this relates to all 355's or just mine.

seems to be that when i change gear ie.from 1st to 2nd ,2nd to 3rd the revs fall back very quickly and the car lacks that 'instant surge' - does this make sense?? - almost like exhaust blowing or something..... - any ideas??? - once in gear and accelerating car feels fine and pretty quick.

    cheers

You are supposed to keep revs up while shifting, at least on the 348. Try shifting from 1st to 2nd or 2nd to 3rd and DON'T take your foot off the gas. Don't accelerate either, but just keep RPMs constant. You eventually get the hang of it.

In any manual transmission car, when shifting up (like 1 to 2), revs should drop so that they match the speed that the next gear will want. Same for going down - increase the revs so that there is a match to what the transmission wants. For example (not 355 gears), shifting at 8500 rpm from first to second, lower the revs to perhaps 7000 to engage 2nd, then de-clutch and go. Going down from 2nd top first, wait til the revs drop to 7000, then blip the throttle to 8500 to engage 1st.

You won't feel a good shift.
