Recently I had a problem with my 87 TR not running right. So I sought out help from F-Chat and Steve Magnusson, who was super helpful in working me thru my problems. He took time out of his schedule to help me diagnose my problem and answered numerous e-mails and p.m.'s. In the end he got me running right and probably saved me many hundreds of dollars in service/repair costs.

Wanting to thank him-I e-mailed him and asked what his favorite Scotch/Wine/Cigars are so i could send him a gift of appreciation and thanks. He e-mailed back and was very humbled by the concept that someone would actually offer to pay for advice (he's that kind of guy!) but i said he earned it and deserved it so an "appropriate gift" went to him as a thanks.

I thought it should be mentioned that it is always a good idea to pay (repay) those members of F-Chat who help us all out when we are in trouble. Guys like Steve Magnusson and Brian Crall (and many others) generously give a lot of time and effort helping us out and deserve a gesture of gratitude. It can be in many forms--maybe a gift of wine or liquor, paying for a local detailer to come out and clean a car, maybe a cash contribution to their paypal account--it doesn't matter-just show some appreciation for their efforts and reward them as you can. They deserve it and it shows that their sacrifices of time and knowledge are valued by us fellow members. If we abuse their good nature-sooner or later they will get fed up with it all and just not bother anymore.

And one more thanks to Steve and his help--thanks!

What I love about this board is...

Some of the guys that give advice here, you would sit on a 2 or 3 month waiting list to get your car in to their shop. Yet here they are at 10:00, 11:00, 12:00 PM answerng questions and giving advice to anyone who needs it.

It really is all about a love for the cars.

A huge Thank You to all of you - you know who you are!!

Very nicely said. The heavy-lifters of this forum are saving us some huge coin. Is there any way to find out if certain users have a paypal account? Appreciation should be shown...

    Troy,

I suggest you just e-mail or pm the individual in question directly and suggest you want to make a contribution to their paypal account, if it exists.. I doubt too many guys are going to say no! If no paypal-a check thru snail mail always works!

I hear you - just thought it might make some uncomfortable. There's sometimes a tendency for folks to say the classic 'no, no, don't worry about it...'

    Troy,

yea i get it too. Some people will have no issues-some may "hesitant"--but i find that saying "okay, how about a bottle of wine or new floor mats?" In the end it is the gesture that shows you are not trying to be a sponge on the experts that will make the difference.

Don't forget those that invent solutions to our car's inherent problems- Birdman, Verell etc.
