    Having the front trunk release keyed through the ignition switch is a pain, when you need to get something out of the car and don't have the key with you. I know I can use the emergency release pull under the wheel, but want to keep that for emergencies and not have it wear out from regular use. Has anyone rewired the electric release to work without the key? Thanks.

    Use the one under the steering column.. it will not break. Better doing that than molesting the wiring harness...

    Yes, I took a feed of the cigarette lighter and provided power to my bonnet and petrol cap so they each work without ignition. No issues, just a few minutes work and easily reversible.
