I recently ran into a problem that began intermittently where the RH directional would not work, as in the indicator on the dash wouldn't light and the front & rear lights wouldn't come on. If I put the hazards on, all 4 would work. The problem was so intermittent, that by the time I got home everything would work ok. So finally this Saturday before leaving the garage I was able to duplicate the issue. After about 15 minutes of basic diagnosing, came to the root cause. Right below the left hand side of the dash (where the carpet meets the leather dash) is where the two flashers live, they are held to the vehicle with a small Phillips head screw. These screws also provide a ground, and my RH one was a little loose. I tightened it down and everything began working normally. Hope this helps someone someday.

Not true. The ground wire is on pin 31 of the flasher unit. The screw is not used. You may have moved the wiring, causing the flasher unit pins to flex the internal circuit board.

Cracks in the circuit board soldering are common. Your fault is probably on pin 15R of the module.

The issue will come back eventually, I'm afraid.

Invest in a soldering iron ;)

P.S. There is really only one flasher unit. The other is an "acoustic repeater" (to increase the sound of the clicking for both left and right turn)

So, if there is only one why would the left work and the right not? It would seem that it would fail on both?

So the bad solder joint is from the pin to the board? Thanks.

Also, for confirmation I should be able to ohm check the continuity between your arrow and the pin and get OL when I wiggle the pin.

The signal from the steering column switch goes specifically to 25R for right turns. It's not the output pin "R" as that works for hazards.

Correct. Sometimes the cracks are microscopic. You can't even see them with a magnifying glass. Try flexing the pin to see if a crack appears. Some folks just resolder all of the pins solder joints to be sure.

Usually when I do this, I run out of hands :p or lose contact with my probes. Give it a try. It may work.

Be gentle with the case... the plastic is soft.

I would recommend a chisel- shaped soldering iron to get maximum heat transfer. The module pins act as giant heat sinks, so they draw heat away from the solder making it hard to melt.
Use fresh solder with a flux core and get the iron fairly hot.
