Yesterday i noticed that the front trim on the dash that vents hot air onto the windscreen has lifted at the tapered end.
I investigated more today and after looking at the part on Scuderia parts diagram ( Part No 5 dashboard ) i am 100% sure it is held in place by a screw from underneath, it does not look like a " push in " fixing.
If this is the case it is going to be a nightmare to gain access to the fixing hole?

Yes, my car has the same issue. The tapered ends are curling up a bit however when I went into the diagrams I wasn't quite sure which piece I was looking at to order a new one. I believe this issue happens from extreme heat, you can replace the part but it's only a matter of time before it comes back. I have seen this on many 599s.

Thankyou both so much for this info, much appreciated.
Looking at the last picture it does look like a screw fixing and not a friction fit.
As its a common problem i might ask the techs at my local garage for some advice.
I am going to order a new part anyway gents.
Mmmm!, might look at retro fitting to some sort of friction fit?, unless you can gain access once the panel under the steering wheel is removed.

Its confusing George i know as both options are either RH 80464800 or LH 80464900. I will try and find more when they reopen after the holidays my friend.

It is pretty common for the tip of the exposed part of the vent to break off. I had my dash leather replaced about 3 years ago and finding the vents was all but impossible; and they were very expensive once we found a set. Speculation: the new PN is because they had ran out of stock and did a minor redesign to reduce breakage. If true, it would explain the 2 screw, 3 screw question.

Unfortunately, the end of my vent is now popped up like yours. I will try to run by my mechanics and ask about this; he might remember more about it.
