The Rich Energy Twitter account is a train wreck. They have now posted a letter allegedly from HAAS lawyers, who are asking Rich Energy to pay sponsorship dues owed out to 2022 within the next 14 days due to breach of contract. Total due £35M

Rich Energy, when you hit rock bottom keep digging. This Storey guy is one for the record books, he may actually be the biggest ***** in the history of F1 and that is saying something. Does not seem that he has an original creative bone in his body and just rips off everyone. Get some popcorn this could be fun to watch him go down on flames. Good riddance.

Well, the fact that Haas took him on as sponsor without any obvious due diligence is pretty contemptible as well. Gene needs to start cleaning house, or his F1 days will soon be over.

Actually conmen are very adept in going through checks and investigations undetected, and they regularly scam banks and multi-nationals, so I am not surprised that a racing team like Haas, which first activity is to race cars and not to dig into business references, has been taken for a ride.

Steiner meets the CEO of Rich Energy. You mean to tell me that the visual alone wouldn't have put a single doubt in his mind? Ok....

You cannot judge a business simply by the apperance of its CEO.

In this case, I'd be remiss to my board to not at least ask a few quiet questions. When something is unusual, it deserves a bit more scrutiny.

Cleaning house or quit F1. Those really are the only viable options.

When you are Gene Haas, you don't quit F1 because a sponsor default on you.
Haas has been bankrolling his team in previous years without too much trouble.
Having a sponsor is just the icing on the cake for him.

Mind you, he can't be very happy with his team after the shenanigans of this afternoon, and Steiner is spitting feathers !!!

My comment had nothing to do with the sponsorship schlamazole. It's the state of the team.

Might get flamed for this but think I found the perfect partnership: rich energy + glickenhanus...

At least @miurasv will appreciate. :D

That would be fine so long as they don't go racing in China.

Well, even Ferrari, Mercedes and Red Bull suffered afternoons like Haas just had; team mates eliminating each other..

Steiner? I doubt he was even asked for his opinion of Rich Energy or Storey... he might be Team Principal, but I'd guess that Gene Haas himself keeps control of total budget and sponsorship matters.

Yup, my guess is that Haas was responsible for the Rich Energy deal, and that Steiner was never a big fan of it (he just seems like the sort of person who would be rubbed the wrong way by the whole Rich Energy package)
