A question to you Ferrari F1 historians:
What color polo shirt/pants/helmet was Richie Ginther wearing at Monaco 1961,
during his epic chase of Sterling Moss' little Lotus; (156 F1, #36)
I only have a black and white photo in a book.
That's in the interest of accuracy in slot car modeling!
    Thanks,
    Christian.

Hello Christian, and welcome to Ferrari Chat!

Your question isn't simple to answer. There is a very clear color picture on the cover of Road & Track, September 1961, showing Richie Ginther in the #36 Ferrari followed by Tony Brooks in the BRM. Richie is wearing a red polo shirt and a grey (or possibly silver) helmet, with no goggles around his neck. There is another picture on page 208 of "Piloti Che Gente" showing the same colors.

But in "The Automotive Photography of Pete Coltrin", there are two black & white pictures showing Richie after the race. In the first one (still in his car) he is obviously not wearing the polo shirt. The second picture is a full-length shot of Richie being congratulated after his drive, and he is wearing a standard Dunlop driving suit (probably white) with two pair of goggles around his neck.

I have to assume that Richie wore the polo shirt in practice/qualifying, and the driving suit in the race.

I can scan and send copies of these pictures to you if you send me a PM with your email address.
