Here is the “net” information for the annual Richmond, VA “Classics on the James” car show on September 20th on Brown’s Island.

Very simply, this is one of the better Mid-Atlantic car shows, and one of the better kept secrets, in a wonderful setting. It features close to 300 European cars of all makes: Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche, Mercedes, Aston Martin, Austin Healey, Rolls Royce, Jaguar, Bentley, MG, Triumph, etc. It is an easy day, beginning at 9:30 for the traditional Ferrari parade onto the show field (we are the only brand that does this) ending at 4:00. There will be food vendors, many automotive related vendors and dealers in attendance, including Foreign Cars Italia with their well stocked merchandise and clothing trailer, along with some of the latest Ferrari models.

The non-competitive display is open to any European make, in any state of restoration or originality. In the past, there have been in the range of 45-50 Ferraris in attendance! To register for the 9/20 show, and for details, go to the Classics on the James website:

    http://www.cvbcc.com/classics/classics2009.htm

There is a Saturday night 9/19 group drive and dinner event, for Ferraris only. This will at Bookbinder’s, an excellent restaurant with a large parking lot with security. This is a multi-course meal and cost is $70 per person, paid at the restaurant. Please contact [email protected] to RSVP. We'll gather in the large parking lot adjacent to the hotel at 6:30 to assemble for the drive over.

The Crown Plaza Hotel in downtown Richmond is the “official” show hotel, right next to the show field. Show rate is in the $100 per night neighborhood. There will be covered parking deck parking (no speedbumps) with 24 hour security and a wash station. You probably should call the hotel directly to get show rate rather than use the website. Contact the Crown Plaza at:

    http://www.ichotelsgroup.com/h/d/cp/1/en/hotel/riccs or call 804-788-0900.

Our FCA organizer this year is Chip Williams, you can contact him at: [email protected] with any questions.

    See you all there! John

Heads up. The hotel no longer has rooms available at the show rate but the cost was only $119/night but it sounds like they are filling up. Better make the reservations early.

That is great about the california, but I don't think it can compare with the Enzo, 288 GTO, F40 and F50 from 2 years ago.

I'm going to go early, probably late morning and leave around 1. Kickoff for the VT-Nebraska game is 3:30 and I want to be back for that. Anyone else planning to be there in the morning?

This sounds like a very cool event. Is registration required to just view the vehicles on display? Is there plenty of parking available?

    Thanks
    James
