Today my 512TR racer had her 1st official competition when I participated in a Time trial w NASA. Next year I will start racing w NASA, HSR, and other clubs, maybe even a Silver State Challenge style event Obviously my car will never run LeMans or Monaco but Daytona, Sebring, Watkins Glen, Laguna, & Lime Rock are definately possible So what is the best way to accumulate worthwhile race history for your car ?
way to go billy boy! tell pollard that you are going full on racing w/ the tr...he can throw in some magic dust!! william, seriously, the car may be legal in scca gt-1 or asr club racing classes. this participation would get you an official scca log book thus creating some real race history. pcb
I think Peter hit it on the head. Documentation , as you know, is everything. Keep us all posted on the racing. It's great your out there doing it with the TR, always great to see some take the unbeaten path. BTW, what type of trans are you looking at running. I happen to also be into off roading and with the explosion of the off road industry, so has gone the technology. Both Mendola and Albins make some very strong transaxles,Able to handle 1000hp (off road). They also have full sequential boxes.( with or without paddles). Darrell.
I have a 512M trans that has been rebuilt by the mechanic in Az who used to work for Lambo & was their 1st test driver
Depends what your aim is in documenting history. If it's simply to document the car is legal in SCCA, HSR, or NASA or to show that the car is competitive in a given class that can be easily achieved by simply getting log books for those sanctioning bodies and noting the results in the book for each race weekend. If your trying to add value to the car racing in SCCA, NASA, or HSR isn't going to achieve anything of real significance. My race car has won three amatuer champions between NASA and SCCA and won two professional championships (Grand Am Cup in 2002 and 2003). The only real value of my car is the two GA Cup titles which were won with professional-for-hire drivers at the wheel and even that history only make the car more saleable in terms of demand. In terms of extra $$$ for the car there is little difference between an ordinary SCCA ITA car. The value of a winning history within SCCA or NASA is a more saleable car but don't expect big bucks! Also time trials aren't considered racing per say and will add no historical significance to the car. Good Luck in 07! Hope to see you at the track ! Regards, JK www.flatoutracing.net
