I couldn’t help but take my Maserati mc out this weekend with the warm weather. Unfortunately I hit a pot hole and bent my front rim. Who would you use on Long Island for rim repair? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Elite in Plainview basically around the block from Maserati Long Island is the biggest around.I just had a wheel on my MB straightened by them as the roads on LI are like the surface of the moon.
Everyone uses Elite for the most part. If it can be avoided I recommend just putting a new rim on the car, repairs weaken the metal and I've seen failures quickly after repair. In Europe it's illegal to repair a wheel without X-ray testing it after repair.
I have a Cromodora CD31 wheel that needs to be repaired. I'm having a difficult time finding anyone who can do the repair - requires welding. Can anyone recommend a company that is capable of doing this type of repair to Cromodora wheels?
My 718 Cayman S is only a year old and I just managed to hit a pothole badly enough to bend *both* left-side rims. They are 20" Carrera S wheels. This is just 2 months after taking a nail in the left rear tire that required both rear tires to be replaced at 5K miles. The prices to replace them are fairly staggering. I can get parts from Suncoast + a local indie shop install for about $3,800. (Dealer wants $5,300.) Or, I could spend $5,900 and get 4 new 20" wheels + tires included from Suncoast, installed at the indy shop (Custom Alignment in Mountain View CA, which I found after reading through some threads here.) rim repair So my question is: The good folks at Custom are suggesting that we send both wheels to Pacific Rim (well-regarded shop) for repair. That's *a lot* cheaper, probably $800 for the repair plus install + alignment. But I'm reading about Porsche prohibiting wheel repairs beyond cosmetic refinishing? So that has me a bit concerned. Any consensus on this? The wheels are not cracked, to my knowledge (local dealer inspected it today.) The car is driveable -- it's just got a noticeable rhythmic vibration. Leaving it alone isn't an option, so I have to repair or replace. Any thoughts on how y'all would handle this? Many thanks in advance Image Unavailable, Please Login
