F1has been used by insurgents before. 1958 Cuban GP. Fangio missed the race because he was otherwised engaged.
My thoughts also. Not sure what the demands are, thought they enjoy a better lifestyle than most in the middle east. ( showing my ignorance here)
They didn't participate in practice 2 because they wanted to get back to the hotel before night fall. Bernie in turn said he would ride shotgun with them to ease their fears. They counted 58 people sitting in the main stand not that crowd levels really matter for people watching it on TV.
I look forward to every race but this one was a mistake. It puts the people of Bahrain and the F1 folks at risk.
Of course he doesn't! He wants to have a race in Iran. Bahrain is a paradise compared to the human rights issues in Iran.
are you serious? i'd love to read more about this and the reactions and consequences if this really happened.
You would have to guess that anyone linked to the Royal family would be in the Paddock club or corporate box.
Of course. I realized that while I was typing that comment, but let logic slide in the hope for a humorous punch line. So let's say those were some of the Palace' staff.
Not that I noticed (like who cares) but that's nice payback. It was funny as they interviewed the Force India guy why they skipped P2 and he was audibly wincing while blatantly lying. At least Matchett called him out on it. Sounds like some higher powers put an official spin on the PR desaster.
I'd be interested to know how many people went with each team to the last 3 GP's and how many are with each team in Bahrain. Regardless of the team members who left,... I wonder if FI went to Bahrain with a skeleton crew. I wonder if any other team did as well...
Everyone is committed to being here. The question is what happens down the road. BTW not only didn't we see anything of Force India but shots of the grandstands were missing too.
