two members of the 26th of july movement grabbed fangio from the lobby of the lincoln hotel where the maserati team was staying. the race was stopped when a ferrari skidded into a grandstand killing four spectators. when fangio was released he reported he'd been treated and fed well, steak and potatoes, chicken and rice, and had nothing but praise for his captors.
I happen to care! They're as quick as Clifford at the moment..... I guess you mean payback for missing P2? I guess it's possible. Seems a little vindictive, even from the Pygmy.......he runs the tv here, right? Cheers, Ian
Yeah, typically Bernie is so avuncular and has a wonderful sense of humor. The on air comments by FI claiming they missed practice for reasons pertaining to race strategy were so transparent and demeaning as to be farcical. Pinnacle of Motorsport or high comedy?
I actually felt a little sorry for the guy - He knew, that we knew, he was blowing smoke. I wonder who gave the order to pull out of P2? Vijay? Pretty much all the sponsors are "him" one way or another...... Very unusual move to "standalone" in this way - Generally they're like sheep as we know. But then Bernie gives the order not to cover 'em in qualy to "punish" 'em? I dunno.... Cheers, Ian
I took this screenshot right after qualifying ended this morning, before going back to bed for a bit. F1 made the main story of cnn.com, but for the wrong reasons... Image Unavailable, Please Login
Oh, no argument from me on that one! I'd just like to know why, and by who, they were black-balled on the TV? I wonder if it'll be the same in the race? [More difficult, but still doable I guess.] Cheers, Ian
A fish smells fom the head down and a decision like that is made at the highest levels. I read one national outlet explaining that they had no control over the video feed.
+1 - So, you reckon Bernie issued the command? That's true - Everyone gets the same feed (via the FOM studios in the UK IIRC) and overlays their own commentary etc. - We know we're going to Bernievision when the "circle" graphic does it's thing. Cheers, Ian
I guess not!..... "More than my jobs worth". I wonder if they'll still be black-balled for the race? [Playing "spot the FI" is probably gonna be more entertaining than the race. ] Although, if we believe their press releases eek, they're all gonna be out of rubber by the mid point anyway........ Cheers, Ian
Pity the poor director faced with the choice of a shot of an FI car or of empty stands. If FI takes the lead I see an immediate commercial break followed by reports of tire failure.
Indeed! All of a sudden, I find myself a huge FI fan....... Would be awesome to see how they handle, lets say, an FI 1-2! "And we're concentrating on the battle for 3rd here" Err, Bernie, I thought you said we were only interested in the front runners.... Cheers, Ian
