How he went as long as he did without aging, I'll never know. RIP Dick.... you and American Bandstand are part of my formative years. Mike
Just saw this on the news. Heart attack. He was the voice of Rock and Roll for generations. I think he knew every music entertainer personally. He certainly had a wonderful life... may he rest in peace now.
RIP Dick.... a cultural icon for sure. And ya know - ten years from now, he'll probably STILL look only 40 Jedi
Class act till the end. I always admired his courage continuing to host the New Year's Eve show even with his speech impedement resulting from his stroke. It would have been nice to see him officially pass the baton to Seacrest who will no doubt take over the duties.
Oh no. He last years were so sad. I grew up watching him at the beginning of each years. I hate growing old and seeing my idols leave
So sad, it was tough seeing him "post stroke" - but he got out there and still brought it. God Speed, Mr. Clark, gonna be rockin' in Heaven tonight!
dick clark's show, american bandstand, helped improve race relations in this country. in the 60's, watching black and white teens on the same dance floor fostered a positive view about the concept of "integration". dick clark was a cultural icon.
In the early 90's I was working for a company that was doing a restaurant/bar called the "American Bandstand Bar and Grill" located in Miami. Dick Clark was there for the soft opening and he was flooded with people asking questions and for autographs. After they left I had a chance to briefly talk to him about the memorabilia he had in the bar. I learned he had a 4 story warehouse in NY that was full of R&R memorabilia and what he had given the bar was only a small fraction of what he had, nice guy too.
Dick Clark just one month ago in Vegas. Even at 82 and in a wheelchair, he still looked good. Image Unavailable, Please Login
