It has just been reported that Gonzalez has passed away at the age of 90. ..:: Carburando On-Line ::.. RIP, El Cabezon. Everyone here must know his story - if you don't, you should. Paul M
For our group Froilan Gonzalez is particularly important as he scored Ferrari's first F1 victory back at Silverstone in 1951. Accounts of that race have Gonzales driving out of his skin in one of the greatest displays of 11/10ths motoring of the early 50's. While time waits for no-one it is always sad to hear of the passing of such a motorsport legend. He survived a terribly dangerous time and remained an incredible ambassador to the sport.
I still remember his famous Photo on the P.S. section of R&T that stated... " In my days the drivers were fat and the tires were skinny"..
One of the great personalities in the history of Grand Prix racing and of Ferrari. He will be missed.
RIP to The Pampas Bull. One of the few to have survived the era. Lifted from Pitpass; A legend indeed. RIP. Cheers, Ian pitpass - Froilan Gonzalez (1922 - 2013)

The Pampas bull... he was a hard drinker as well. Ferrari loved to have him around to drink and chase girls too....
