    I heard that on TV. Apparently he's lost his battle agaisnt cancer :( What a tragedy. So young and talented !

    Oh my goodness, that is very sad to hear. During WRC Australia I actually wondered what he had been up to and how he was doing. I can only imagine what the Peugot team is feeling right now, especially after losing Michael Park in Rally UK.

    Godspeed Richard, may you and "Beef" team up and make the perfect driving combo in heaven.

    It is indeed a a sad day as rallying has lost one of its truly great drivers. A friend of mine had the pleasure of working with Richard many years back when he was at the Mitsubishi team. On one occasion for three days he sat in the passenger seat to Richard as ballast while the team ran destructive testing on the car. The goal was to jump and abuse the car as much as possible in an effort to find its weakspots. My friend loved every minute of it and (he having passengered with some of the top drivers in the world) ranked Burns as the best ride of his life.

    What's odd is that Richard died 4 years to the day he won his driver's championship in WRC back in November 25, 2001.
