The official pre-24 Hours test at La Sarthe Tracy Krohn's #83 Risi Competizione Ferrari 430 put a wheel on the grass just before the pit-lane entry, spun and made heavy contact with the wall. The car was damaged to the extent that it may not be repairable in time for the 24 Hours in two weekends' time. Kohn, however, was not seriously hurt and was only taken to hospital for precautionary checks. Ferrari F1 test driver Gene was hospitalised too, after the day's second major impact, his #7 Peugeot having also become a victim of the slick grass verges. The Spaniard was looking good to move to the top of the timesheets when he put a wheel off the road in the Porsche Curves and hit the wall hard. The incident bore many similarities to that which has cost Stephane Ortelli his place in the 24 Hours, after the Peugeot got airborne and threatened to flip - putting both sides of the car to the tarmac - before making contact with the wall.
Don't count them out just because of an incident. Per their website: It was very disappointing for Tracy Krohn to have had the accident, but the team will pull together to have the car repaired and ready for presentation at scrutineering on Tuesday, June 10." Besides, due to the enormous expenditure of funds to run this event and the fact that Italy is so close, it wouldn't be out of the question to get the car repaired in short order. Glad to see Mika/Jaime/Gimmi on top for the test session...just hoping for a repeat in 12 days time. Carol
It would be great to see them race again. I had the pleasure of meeting them at Sebring. A Class outfit all the way.
Sad to hear this...he's always a little harder on the bodywork than the professional drivers. He's got the cash to fix it though, no doubt about that.....

Hopefully, the rain will stay away during the race - definitely don't want a repeat of last year. Carol
The rumor here on the pit lane was that the car was going back to Italy and that they were going to have to build up a new car this week with the parts from this one. Here is a photo that I took today as they loaded it up. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hey, as long as the VIN/serial number is salvageable. Heck, that's a Ferrari Factory Racing Tradition
John and I figured that the car would most likely be replaced or repaired in Italy - it only makes sense. As I mentioned when you have cubic dollars invested in this event you give up on anything! Are you staying for the race too?? We're headed to LeMans next Wednesday. Carol
Yes, I have been here since last Thursday. I am working on a film for Audi on their TDI program, it has been a real dream job as I am sure you can believe. Bring your rain gear, it has poured a bit every single day and there is no end in sight.
We got wet last year too! What a job to have - be interested in hearing more about your film. We go to support Risi #82 and our friend Allan in his Audi R10 - how concidential!! and our friend Rik's Team Modena Aston Martin. A little off the car topic but still LeMans related - have you taken the new tram from the train station to the circuit? We'll be at the circuit on Friday for the open pits then back into LeMans for the driver parade. Carol
The tram looks to be very nice but we have not been taking it yet, I plan on using it when we get a few days off at the end of the week. Say hi, if you see the film crew around the Audi pits. Thanks,
Will do - we'll be in the pit area on Friday for most of the day. There were some guys on one of the the TGV trains from Paris to LeMans last year that were doing film work for Audi TV?? Carol
