Hello everyone, 360 and 430 have well know issue with fuel pumps, cousing them to catch on fire. At the salvage auctions I see more burned cars rather than crash damaged. Most of them have rear ends burned, but I have also seen one spider that looks to start burning somewhere around battery area. Could you share what areas of the car should I take a look at to minimize any chances of car getting on fire?

It really boils down to maintenance in general. Battery i guess i could see due to the metal bracing near the terminals if the battery wasn't secured or bolted down properly.

The fuel pump assembly plastic is prone to fatigue/cracking and ultimately failure. This either allows vapors or raw fuel to leak out. Also the roll-over valves. I haven't looked in a long time, and i'm not quite sure if there is an aftermarket company that makes billet fuel pump assemblies or better roll-over valves but those would be ideal to replace the factory plastic units.

Ensure the car has no leaks and don't wait at the first sign of fuel smell to replace components. Should regularly at oil change time or any time you're working on the car check behind the side panels to ensure all is well. Cheap insurance, just takes a little extra time.

Beyond that, i'm not aware of any other areas that are prone to it. Although anything could be a fire hazard technically.

Also, grab a fire extinguisher kit for the car. Cant hurt and can save the car at a moments notice.

I saw a video on the fuel pump plastic assembly, the guy doing the video
specified a different fuel pump altogether that was the SAME thing at 1/4 the price,
or something like that, but built better.
And if you get a fire extinguisher, get something better than an 'ABC' one - those are
almost useless in a gasoline fire, I have a 5lb Purple K in my car, and a 2.5lb Halon as well.

Disclaimer - I do not own a Ferrari
