The 512BBi at RM Amelia sold for $220,000, I believe including buyers premium. Red, Boxer trim, and 23,000km.

It means the 10 year old was doing the bidding for his father. The auctioneer pointed it out to the room, and as a result, everyone turned attention to the kid and cheered him on.

After that, I'm pretty sure there wasn't any way the father would let the kid get outbid. It was a cute moment. The kid had a great poker face.

I hazard to say it is just starting. Did you guys see those pictures like I did?
Drop dead gorgeous, hand made, flat 12 mid engine Ferrari. And open the clamshells? Come on, Boxers are just dripping with charisma. Unique and a bit enigmatic to boot.

I see it as a car that most people have yet to figure out, but it is starting.

The looks of the Dino have always been there, so what launched it into the stratosphere? Not extreme performance (even for its era), not exclusivity, not even a coveted 12 cyl powerplant. Don't get me wrong, I have always loved the Dino. My point is that it was for years a connoisseur's car, appreciated as much for what made it different as well as for its beauty.

Remember just a few short years ago we thought $190k for a Dino was high? We will say the same about a $200k BB512(i)

Hang on, sometime in the next 5 years we will really see what Boxers are worth.

And where Boxers go, the Testarossa will follow (albeit more slowly). The flat12 era was relatively short, but it was a totally unique chapter in Ferrari history.

    imvho.
