From what I saw the only 300SL that was worth bidding hard on was the early lot white Gullwing which no saled at $500K. It was one of the nicest I have seen. The others were ... wanting ... Bill
"Another highlight that failed to find a new home was the 1963 Chevy Corvette Grand Sport. Bidding went as high as $5 million; the estimated value and reserve was not announced, but rumor was that it could have been as high as $7 million." http://www.conceptcarz.com/
Yes same with stocks, houses etc... but somehow prices manage to decline. People plan to buy when it goes lower. trouble is that: 1. when it gets there they change their minds/ the economy caught up to them as well 2. there are more sellers then buyers...usual explanation for price decreases. Any spin about this auction is pointless, it was a visible repricing. Will be interesting to see what transpires today at Gooding's.
Ditto. Rumor also has it RM Guaranteed 6 million on the GS. Any thoughts on that Bill? BJ is like watching lambs to slaughter. Car after Car not even making it's cost of restoration.
Hi Chris, Are you in the room? I am up front in the VIP section if you need a seat. $616,000 with commissions on the GTO and it was a relatively high mileage example with it's last major service done In 1997. David made mention prior to the sale that it should be serviced before use. No books or tools with the car so seems to be a little ok the pricey side of things. Cheers, Bill
Hi Bill, Nope, I´m at home in Buenos Aires enjoying summer in my sofa following it live on Gooding´s website. I have free drinks and food here! Enjoy the sale! Regards. Cris.-
Bill, Thanks for the invitation! You are also invited to come home whenever you want to visit Buenos Aires. How is the feeling in the room? I cannot see if there is full of people of not from here. Regards. Cris.-
No where near as packed as RM was but sales seem far stronger but they are only 9 lots onto the sale. So far even taking commissions out, the first 9 lots sold at high prices in my opponion. The so so 289 Cobra was their first no sale at $350K. It just was not a very nice looking example. Cheers, Bill
One should not include the commish, otherwise take off the commish paid by the seller. hammer price is the mid market price. Daytona at 260k. Weakkkkk...
