    Greetings from rainy New England.

My wife and I will be in the Annapolis area for Thanksgiving and are taking a couple of days on the Eastern Shore to escape her parents and our kids. We plan to bring our Modena south with us.

Are there any "can't miss" roads on the Eastern Shore that we should put on the agenda? Any advice you can offer would be greatly appreciated.

the eastern shore is kinda kansas if you catch my drift. uneventful- not too many dips and turns. not far from annapolis is some nice roads towards laurel and ellicot city. drop us a line , if nice weather we might be out for a sunday drive.

I agree. Some of the best stuff is out to the northwest, for example past Columbia there's a lot of hilly farmland as you approach Frederick and the mountains. Alternatively you can head south towards Upper Marlboro, but unless you pick just the right time of day you can be sure to run into slow traffic.

There's some regular backroads I use in the Annapolis/Crownsville/Bowie area, but while they're more fun than the main roads they're all short and not terribly special. About the most exotic thing you'll find is the rare one-lane bridge or a twisty section with no center line.

Ellicott City on the other hand has switchbacks barely wide enough for two cars and blind intersections with a turning radius so tight that there's no way you can do them without crossing into opposing traffic. I still can't believe some of those turns are legal.
