I'll be going to the Ferrari Challenge at Road America, and trying to figure out where to stay. I remember hearing about some nice places around the area, but can't remember the details. Isn't there someplace called the "America's Club" (or something similar) that's supposed to be nice? Any details would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

The American club is in Kohler, about 12-20 min away, that's where i stay. google the place and it will tell you more than i can.

the osthoff and seibkin's are in elkhart lake, they are not as good but closer.

The American Club is very nice, and over $300/night. I have a hard time paying that if their is not the vast expanse of an ocean or gulf in front of me with people anxiously awaiting my next drink order....

Hard to find anything nice these days at $300 a night on the Gulf or warm ocean. So the American Club is a relative bargain.

And in the summer, it's almost like "their (sic) is a vast expanse of an ocean" in the form of Lake Michigan! ;)

Not to mention the championship-level golf courses in the area, courtesy of Herb Kohler.

Really, the American Club is worth the price, view or no view. All of the rooms have Kohler whirlpool tubs, very nice to have after a long day of walking around Road America.

Kohler's influence shows in several places with whirlpools in Sheboygan as well.

I like to stay at the Osthoff. Its only two minutes to the track. Some of the suites have whirlpools and wet bars to entertain, so everyone can come back to the room after Seibken's closes. Its located right on Elkart Lake so you walk around downtown and along the shore.

If camping remotely interests anyone, the slots inside the carousel turn make for a good time.

    TRUE CONFESSION...

Last summer, during the Bric weekend, when all of the rooms in the vicinity are booked, I found a real nice little place, about 20 minutes of pleasant country driving away. IIRC it was about $35.00/night for double occupancy. I think I'll be going back, it's quiet, clean and there's a vacancy. :) It's also a secret :) :)

Na, but it is a nice place, away from all of the nut cases and associated socio-alcoholic upheaval.
